Summer Must Haves: Beauty Products

20130624-130153.jpg

Hi Guys! Today’s post is about my must have products for the summer! If you would like an in depth review on any products shown, leave me a comment down below! Enjoy!

1. Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream

20130624-131313.jpg
I really do not like wearing full coverage foundation in the summer, so I like to wear a nice tinted moisturizer or a bb cream! The one in the jar is my homemade tinted moisturizer, (see post below) and then the other is Revlon’s BB Cream in light. Both feel very light on the skin, contain SPF, and you can build them up to medium coverage!

2. Bronzer

20130624-131400.jpg
I like to use bronzer in the summer for contouring, and also all over my face to give a nice glow. The bronzer shown here is Tarte’s Park Avenue Princess Mineral Bronzer. This Bronzer gives a nice glow to the skin without any glitter or shimmer.

3. Lipstain/Lipbalm

20130624-131802.jpg
I love these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. The color shown here is “Lovesick” and is a true hot pink color, which is really on trend for the summer. These Balm stains give a sheer wash of color, with the staying power of a stain. The other product shown here is the Burt’s Bees Refreshing Lip Balm with Pink Grapefruit. It contains SPF and will help those dry, chapped lips.

4. Makeup Setting Spray

20130624-132218.jpg
Makeup setting sprays are a must have to ensure that your makeup stays looking fresh all day. The one that I use is MAC’s Fix Plus. This is a multi-use spray that is made with rose water and glycerin, and it can be used after your makeup to set it, and take away the powdery look, and also be used as a refresher spray. Sometimes i keep it in the fridge and spritz a little on my face after I come in from outside.

5. Fun Summer Nail Polish

20130624-134012.jpg
You gotta have a fun summer nail polish! The color shown here is Essie’s Bikini So Teeny. This color was part of the Summer 2012 collection, but you can still find it online. I searched everywhere for this color last summer. It is a pretty, periwinkle colored polish with a subtle shimmer. It looks really pretty on the fingernails or toenails! And how cute is the name?! 🙂

6. Gradual Self Tanner

20130624-141313.jpg
This is the Jergens Natural Glow Gradual Self Tanner in Medium to Tan. Obviously, I am not Medium to Tan, but when buying self tanner, something in my head always tells me, “Yeah go for the darkest one!!!” What I like about this self tanner is that it is gradual. You don’t notice a big change after one use. I only use this product on my legs, because my arms and neck are usually darker from just being outside, and it takes a couple of days to see a difference. Now, if you have ever used self tanners, you know that they smell really bad. This one doesn’t smell bad at all after applying, and it doesn’t turn you orange. This product has been around a long time, so if you haven’t used it in a couple of years, give it another shot, they have changed the formula.

7. Sea Salt Hair Spray

20130624-135012.jpg
You know that look that your hair gets at the beach after swimming in the ocean? Those texturized, beachy waves? Well, now you can get the look at home, and you don’t even have to go to the beach! This is Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray. This is a texturizing hair spray made with sea salt that you spray all over your hair, and it gives you pretty beachy waves. I like to use this spray after I comb through wet hair, and just spray this in and let my hair air dry. You don’t need much, just a couple of spritzes and it doesn’t leave your hair crunchy. I also like to use this spray after I curl my hair, just to give it texture and volume.

8. Cute Hair Ties

20130624-135516.jpg
These are cute little jewel-toned hair ties I found at Sephora. They come in packs of 8, and they just look so much cuter than just a plain old rubberband. They have a whole bunch of colors to choose from.

So those are my Summer Must Haves! I hope you enjoyed this post, and thanks so much for reading. Hope you have a great summer!

20130624-091329.jpg

Hi Guys! Hope y’all had a good weekend! It’s Monday, which means its time for a new manicure! Today’s manicure is a hot, neon, barbie-pink! This color is so fresh, and I feel like it makes me look tanned!

The formula of these polishes are similar to OPI, but these are around $5, while OPI is usually $9. They are thick, and two coats is all you need. I think it is just the perfect pink color for summer! Enjoy!

What’s On The Menu: Chicken Tortilla Soup

Hi Guys! So, I know I mostly write about beauty and fashion, but I thought I would do something a little bit different today! I was born and raised in San Antonio, where they have delicious Mexican food. I make this soup for my family, and they love it, even my 2 year old! This recipe reminds me of the food in San Antonio, and I think you guys will like it!

CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP

20130620-185946.jpg

Ingredients:

2 cups shredded chicken
2 cans chicken broth
1 can tomatoes and green chilies (Rotel)
1 cup corn
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup cilantro
1/2 cup onions
1/4 cup lime juice
1 tbsp cumin
shredded colby jack cheese and tortilla strips for garnish

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place two chicken breasts on a cookie sheet (I line the pan with foil) and bake them in the oven until the juices run clear (about 30 min) at 325 degrees.
2. After the chicken has baked and cooled, take a fork and shred the chicken into bite sized pieces.
3. Put shredded chicken into a large soup pot and add the chicken broth and Rotel. I like to use a food processor and blend up the Rotel until it has the consistency of salsa.
4. Add the corn and garlic. I use a garlic press to get the garlic chopped up really small.
5. Chop up your cilantro and onions and add them in. If you don’t like onions, you can chop them into big slices, and remove them after they are done cooking, that way you will still get the onion flavor.
6. Add the lime juice and cumin, and stir everything together.
7. Bring everything to a boil , and let simmer for 30 minutes.
8. Garnish with cheese and tortilla strips.

This soup tastes even better the next day! I hope yall enjoyed this recipe, and let me know if you try it!

Have a great day, and thanks for reading!

How To: Keep Your Hair Looking Fresh in Between Washes

Hey Guys! It is no secret that washing your hair everyday will dry out your hair. Especially if you use heat to style. I, personally, hate washing my hair! It is so thick, and it takes forever to wash, blowdry, and style! In this blog, I am going to tell y’all what products I use to keep my hair looking good when I don’t want to wash my hair.

On the days that I do wash my hair, after I get out of the shower, I comb through my clean hair, and apply some of this Living Proof Hair Primer. ($20, Sephora)

20130618-085006.jpg
I apply about a nickel-sized amount, I start from my ears down, and then I use whatever is left on my hands to do my roots and bangs. I know it is weird to put product on the top of your head, but the top of your head is where the oils are, so you need it there the most. I then blowdry and style as usual.

This product is a “style extender”, and is “weightlessly perfecting, weather proofing, and time saving.”

This product claims to:
– Weightlessly perfect strands
– Smooth and correct hair texture
– Block humidity and moisture flux
– Repel oil and dirt, keeping hair cleaner, and styles lasting longer

Now, the next day, when I wake up, I usually just put my hair up in a cap while I shower, and then after I get out, I brush through my hair, and apply some dry shampoo.

20130618-090435.jpg
I use this Batiste Dry Shampoo with a hint of brown ($9, Ulta). I have tried almost every dry shampoo on the market, and this is the best one. It sprays out grayish-brown instead of white, making it easier to blend into my brown hair. It has a nice scent, and it doesn’t leave a residue in your hair. I section the top of my hair off and spritz this into my roots. It instantly makes my hair volumized and gets rid of any oil I may have.
The next thing I do is tease my hair. I lift up sections from the crown and tease and spray with my favorite hairspray, Loreal Elnett Satin ($15, Ulta).

20130618-090833.jpg
This hairspray holds your style in place, but allows you to still brush through your hair. It’s not sticky, and I like the scent of it. So that’s it! That is how I keep my hair looking good in between washes. If you have any questions, leave me a comment down below!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and thanks for reading!
