Hi Everyone! I stopped by MAC today, and I bought Up The Amp, which is a purple lipstick. I don’t have any color like this in my collection, so I wanted to try it out. When it comes to lipsticks, I usually go for either pinks or nudes, so I wasn’t really sure how this lipstick would look on me. I ended up really liking it, and I think it will be great for upcoming fall and winter!
This is an Amplified Creme formula, so it is very creamy, and has great color payoff. There is no shimmer to this, but it does leave a nice finish. You may want to apply a gloss over the top if you want it to be extra shiny. In the tube, it looks straight up purple, but after trying it on, it looks more of a blue based mauve color. You can wear this very sheer by just dotting a little bit on your lips, or you can build it up for a true lavender/violet color.
To show you the difference, I swatched some other MAC lipsticks that look similar.

You can definitely tell that Up The Amp is a lot more of a darker purple.

I think this color is gorgeous, and I love the creaminess and the wear of it. I think I will get a lot of use out of this in the wintertime.
