SLEEK Storm Palette – Review + Swatches

20140129-194149.jpg
Hi guys! Today I have a review for you on something I have been using almost every day. This is the Sleek i-Divine Storm Mineral Eye Shadow Palette.

20140129-195103.jpg
Inside this palette there are 12 mineral eye shadows, perfect for creating many daytime or nighttime looks!

The shadows do not have names, so I will describe them the best that I can!

From left to right:
1. This is a shimmery gold color with some brown to it. This is a great color to use all over the lid by itself, or blended with other colors.

2. This color is a shimmery champagne-pearl color that is a perfect inner corner highlight shade.

3. This is a matte, light brown shade similar to MAC’s Wedge. This is a great transition or crease color.

4. This color looks the same as #1 in the swatch, but in person it is a lot more yellow-toned than the first one. It is a true shimmery gold color.

5. This color is the reason I bought this palette. It is a beautiful, shimmery rose gold color that makes your eyes look so bright. I love this color.

6. This last color is a shimmery brown color with a hint of red to it, it looks almost burgundy in the pan but is a great color to use to deepen up your look.

1. This first color is a dark, shimmery, bronze color and is one of my most used colors for smudging under the lashline.

2. This color is a dark, shimmery, silver color. This shade is very similar to MAC’s Knight Divine.

3. The next color is unlike any other colors I’ve ever seen. It is a shimmery, hunter green color. It shows up a lot more green in person, but it is a wearable green color, not a scary green! This looks beautiful on the eyes.

4. This is a midnight blue shimmery color with a little bit of pink sheen to it. It’s really pretty.

5. This is another matte brown, but a deeper brown. This is a good shade for deepening up the crease, and this would make a great eyebrow color for brunettes.

6. This last color is a matte black. I always like having a black shade in eyeshadow palettes because you can use it as liner, or to deepen up any eye look.

I like this palette because:

-It is small, only measuring 5’6 in x 3 in, (the shades are about the size of a nickel) so it is great for travel or putting in your purse.
-The colors are velvety soft and pigmented.
-The shades are very unique from others that I own, but all of them are wearable colors.
-You can create tons of different eye looks, anything for daytime or nighttime.
-This palette is very affordable, it retails for $11.99.

Sleek Makeup is not sold in the U.S., as it is a U.K. brand, but you can purchase it directly from the Sleek website here.

I would not recommend purchasing this palette from Amazon. I purchased my palette there and it was not packaged correctly, and one of the shadows was crumbled since they only packaged it in bubble wrap. Definitely order directly from Sleek to ensure that your palette is in good condition.

Have you tried this palette or plan on picking it up? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

xoxo, Amy

The Get To Know Me Tag

20140127-134717.jpg

Hi everyone! Today I am going to do the Get To Know Me Tag. I saw that Angie of rubyangel711 did this TAG on her blog, so I thought it would be fun to do it too. If you have not had a chance to check out her blog, you should go and check it out! I love her posts about all of the latest fashions and trends!

Ok, so here we go with the Get To Know Me Tag!

1. Is your hair naturally straight or curly?

My hair is pretty straight, but has a slight wave to it if i let it air dry.

2. Do you wear the same style every day, or do you change it?

I usually wear my hair down or half-up, and I usually curl it. I have never liked wearing my hair up.

3. How often do you change your nail polish?

I change my nail polish usually twice a week, and I always do it after Allie goes to bed. It is impossible to do it while she is awake! It makes me feel good to have freshly painted nails.

4. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

Usually about 15 minutes, sometimes longer if Allie wants me to pretend I’m putting it on her too! She LOVES makeup.

5. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

I always do face first, unless I am using dark shadows, and then I do eyes first. It is easier to clean up the fallout from dark shadows if you do eyes first, because you won’t mess up your foundation.

6. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?

I definitely collect it. I do try to use up products though! But yeah, no one actually NEEDS that many blushes. I just like to have options when it comes to different colors.

7. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

I wear them every now and then, mostly for pictures and date nights, or if I have a special occasion to go to. I love wearing them, I just don’t think they are necessary for playdates. lol

8. Do you do a full face of makeup every day?

Yes, I do. Sometimes I will skip foundation and just wear tinted moisturizer, and I won’t always contour and highlight. But, I ALWAYS have under eye concealer, blush, mascara, eyebrows and lips at the very minimum.

9. Do you wear makeup when you’re at home alone or with family?

Yes, I wear it every day. Even if I don’t go anywhere. You never know what will happen that day or who you will see.

10. How many high end products do you have?

I have quite a few. MAC, Urban Decay, Chanel, Dior, Nars, Make Up For Ever, Stila, Anastasia, Tarte, Benefit, Bare Minerals, Smashbox, LORAC … What can I say? I love Sephora. I love my drugstore makeup too though!

11. How often do you change your handbag?

If I am going somewhere at night or a special occasion, I change it to go with my outfit, but for my day to day bag, I usually change it every couple of weeks.

12. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

I wake up around 7:00, and I usually go to sleep around 11.

13. Left handed or right handed?

Righty.

14. How tall are you?

5’3.

15. How many pets do you have?

2 little Maltese dogs, Maggie (8) and Mollie (4).

16. How do you blog?

I blog at night after Allie goes to sleep, or during her naptime. I usually just use my IPhone.

17. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

Yes, and I read every comment posted on mine. I try to respond to every comment that I get. I am very grateful to receive comments, it makes me happy to know people are actually reading! 🙂

18. How did you come up with your blog name?

Well, I just thought of it, and I wanted to have a blog name that had my name in it.

19. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I use the camera on my phone. I like how you can upload the picture straight to your blog from there.

20. What’s your favorite color?

PINK!

Ok, so that’s all for this TAG! I hope y’all enjoyed it, and thanks for reading!

Review: Origins GinZING Refreshing Eye Cream

20140127-141644.jpg
Hello friends! Today I have a review for you on the Origins GinZING Refreshing Eye Cream.

I picked this up from Sephora about a month ago, and I have been very pleased with it, so I decided to share my opinions with you.

This eye cream comes in a little orange glass jar with a white screw on cap. It contains 0.5 oz. and retails for $30. The jar is rather full when you first open it and it is a very pretty, pinkish-nude color, and has a light fresh scent.

20140127-141725.jpg
Here is what it says on Sephora’s website:

What it is:
A clinically-proven eye cream that instantly de-puffs and reduces dark circles.

What it is formulated to do:
Late night? Long flight? Look tired all the time? This natural, clinically-proven morning-after eye cream instantly reduces dark circles. Unsightly bags and puffiness virtually disappear. And Origins’ proprietary complex of caffeine from coffee bean, Panax ginseng, magnolia extract, and natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up, refreshes, and restores radiance to tired eyes. Best for all skin types.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Synthetic Dyes
– Petrochemicals
– Phthalates
– GMOs
– Triclosan

Research results:
– 86% brighter appearance
– 80% reduction in puffiness

This eye cream does contain pigment and brightener which instantly makes you look more awake. You need just the tiniest amount for each eye, and it instantly hydrates and makes your concealer go on very smooth.

I am really enjoying using this eye cream, so if you are in the market for a new one, definitely check this one out!

Have a great day, and thanks for reading!
