“Wash of Color” Eyeshadows- DRUGSTORE EDITION!

20140828-201038.jpg
Sometimes I don’t want to fool with eyeshadow. It’s the longest part of my makeup-applying process, and sometimes I want to just sweep some color over my lids, blend it out, and be done with it! I usually go for a shimmery champagne, nude, or bronze color. Here are some of my favorite colors to use from the drugstore!

20140828-201209.jpg

NYX Iced Mocha – this color is a dupe for MAC’s Satin Taupe, and it’s the perfect shimmery taupe color that gives the eyes some dimension.

Loreal Infallible in Amber Rush – I LOVE this eyeshadow and I’m sure I have talked about it before. It is pretty much a pressed pigment with all of the color payoff. The color is a gorgeous, rose gold shimmer. It’s just beautiful on the lids.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Nude Compliment – these cream shadows are my favorite, especially this one and Bad to the Bronze. This color is the cream version of the NYX shadow, but with more of a sheen, and it is a smidge darker. These shadows are awesome when you are in a hurry; just use your finger to blend out and you’re done! And they really do stay on forever!

Elizabeth Mott Pop Goes The Shadow in Champagne – This is a light, very shimmery gold color that looks great all over the lids. I love this when I don’t want to look like I’ve got a lot of makeup on. It gives just a little bit of something extra to the eyes and brightens them up.

20140828-202712.jpg
Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil in Bad Girl Bronze – this is a cream pencil that is so smooth and blends out so well on the eyes. This color is a true dark shimmery bronze that looks great as an all over the lid color, and also smudged into the upper and lower lash lines.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box!

20140812-130555.jpg

Hi everyone! Today I have a new subscription box to share with you! I was gifted this box (thanks Katie!) and I wanted to let you all know about this box, which contains all-natural and vegan beauty products! I had not heard about this company before, so I was really excited to receive this and get to try out all of the products! This subscription box is like other subscriptions like IPSY or Birchbox, where you pay a set amount ( I believe this one is $19.95), and they send you new goodies every month to try out. The cool thing about this box is that all of the items are vegan, all natural, and cruelty-free! You don’t have to worry about harmful chemicals or ingredients here. So here is what I got in the box:

20140813-141305.jpg

Montagne Jeunesse Squeezed Lemon Green Tea Peel Off Detox & Pore Cleansing Masque – This is an all-natural peel off mask that you apply after cleansing, and you wait about 15-20 minutes before peeling it off. I have tried these masks before, and they leave your skin feeling really clean and refreshed!

Karitex Organic Certified Shea Butter – This is a big huge brick of solid shea butter. Shea butter is great for moisturizing your skin, and it smells really good too!

Bare Bones Cleanser – This is a very generous sample of facial cleanser, it contains only vegetable glycerin, rose water, and tea tree oil. I have heard that rose water is very calming to the skin, and that tea tree oil is great to use as a toner, so I am excited to try this.

Dew Puff – When I first opened the box, I saw this and immediately opened it to see what it was. It is a plant fiber sponge that you can use to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. It is very hard and lightweight until you add water, and then it changes to a sponge! It is very cool and feels really nice to cleanse your face with!

Mias’s Chandler FarmHand Creme in Cranberry & Mandarin – this is a huge sample of hand cream! It smells delicious and fruity, and is really moisturizing and leaved my skin feeling soft.

20140813-141409.jpg

Death By Lavender All Natural Deodorant – This is a little mini deodorant that contains coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch, and essential oils. This reminds me a lot of the LaVanila Healthy Deodorant that Sephora carries. I am anxious to try this and see how well it works, because I know that natural deodorants are really popular and healthier.

Jane Carter Solution Nourish & Shine – this is a multipurpose product that you can use on your hair as a conditioning treatment and also on your skin to moisturize. It smells really nice and citrus-y so I am excited to try that.

Diva Polished Organic Sugar Scrub – I have been using this in the shower and I really like it a lot! It is really nice to use on your legs to exfoliate with before shaving, and unlike some scrubs, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry.

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Plumas – this is a full-size lipstick and gloss in one! I have tried this brand in the past and I really like this! It is a gorgeous berry color and feels very soft and smooth.

The All Natural Face Lip And Cheeks in Dusky Rose – This is a cool little compact that contains a mauve colored cheek and lip cream. This color gives a natural flush to the lips and cheeks, and is perfect to keep in your bag!

Medusa’s Make-Up Kabuki – This is my favorite thing in the bag! Not only is it pink, but it is soo soft! This is a great brush to use with powder to touch up throughout the day.

Earth Science Extra Gentle Fragrance Free Shampoo and Conditioner – I’ve never tried anything from this brand before, but I love to try new hair products. These contain jojoba oil (very moisturizing) and soy proteins which help with breakage, so I am excited to try these!

Eden Allure Pure Argan Oil – I LOVE to use argan oil on my hair. I know that it can also be used on skin too, but I haven’t tried it that way. I use it on the ends of my hair and it makes my hair very soft.

Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser – I have heard great things about this brand, but I have never tried any of their products. This ia an organic cleanser that contains avocado oil and Vinanza Oxifend, which is a powerful anti-oxidant. It is also supposed to be very soothing to the skin.

I honestly had no idea that there were so many natural beauty products out there, and I am glad that I get to try all of these! If you would like an in-depth review on any of these products, let me know and I’d be happy to do it!

MOMMY Monday – Flat Sandal Addiction?

20140815-172123.jpg

Does anyone else enjoy flat sandals as much as I do? Before I had kids, I would wear heels all the time; wherever I went! Don’t get me wrong, I live for a good wedge heel, and think those can be just as comfortable! But recently, I find myself wearing some kind of flat sandal every day in the summer. As a stay-at-home mom, I am with my kids all day, and let’s face it- flat shoes are just more practical when chasing kids around!

When looking for flat sandals, I usually want something with a back-strap. I really cannot stand wearing flip flops, unless they have some sort of embellishment or just something special about them. If they are just plain, I feel like they just look like they’re for the beach. I think there are a lot of great options out there for flat sandals, and you can be super comfortable while still looking chic and put together.

My favorite places to buy flat sandals are Target, Hautelook, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom Rack. They have tons of great styles to choose from at great prices!

Do you like flat sandals?

Oldie But Goody: Bare Minerals Original Foundation

20140815-164539.jpg

Hi guys! I’m sure you all have your favorite foundations – foundations that you know will always work for you. I used Bare Minerals Original Foundation for about 2 years, and then stopped using it to test out some liquid foundations.

I was recently cleaning out my makeup drawers, and came across this little gem. I remembered how much I liked it, and wondered why in the world I stopped using it! The truth is, I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation. While I LOVE the coverage and flawless and natural finish that it gives, I HATE that it is a loose powder. It gets everywhere and there is like a flesh colored cloud in the air when I’m applying it. Lol.

20140815-165326.jpg

I prefer the Original Foundation over the Matte version, because I like the dewy/glowy finish that the original formula gives. I wear the shade Fairly Light in both versions, just for reference. The way that I apply this is with the Bare Minerals Full Flawless Face brush, and I pour a little bit of the powder into the lid, swirl my brush around in it, and apply to my face in circular motions. After I apply it, I don’t even feel like I have anything on my face, but my complexion looks so even and pretty.

Now, I like a light coverage (especially in the summer), and that’s what is great about this foundation. You can do light coverage, or you can build it up by just applying more, and it will give you full coverage. It doesn’t ever look cakey, either. I find that it lasts pretty good on the skin, maybe about 6 hours tops without having to blot or powder. I have dry skin though, so I don’t usually get oily throughout the day.

So I might just be imagining this, but I feel like this foundation improves my skin when I wear it. Over time, my skin becomes more even and glowy looking, even after I wash this off. I don’t have any other foundation that does that.

Have you tried Bare Minerals before? What do you think of it?

IPSY Glambag August 2014

Hi everyone! I’m excited because I received the best IPSY bag that I have ever gotten! I love (and will actually use) everything they sent this month! It’s mostly all makeup products, which is why I think I like it so much.

For those of you who don’t know, Ipsy is a beauty sample subscription box where you pay $10 a month (you can cancel anytime) and they send you a grab bag full of goodies based on your profile every month. Most of the time they send full size products! The value of what is in the box is always over $10, and it’s a great way to try out new products!

20140815-162853.jpg

This month’s theme is Beauty Schooled, and I think it’s “back to school” themed with this white and orange polka dotted, pencil case-like bag. My daughter put crayons in it. Lol.

20140815-161758.jpg

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion – 0.27 oz Value $7.83
Absolute You’re The Balm Lip Balm in Green Apple – FULL SIZE! Value $3
GLAMGLOW Youthmud TingleExfoliate Treatment – 15g Value $10.83

The shimmer lotion is seriously gorg. It is like a pinky-gold liquid that is so pretty as a highlight, and you could also mix it with lotion to give a pretty illuminating effect. The lip balm smells exactly like red starburst (even though its supposed to be green apple scented), and it leaves a pretty pink tint to the lips. I was super excited to see the GLAMGLOW sample, because I have never tried this one in the black package before. I have the one in the white jar and I LOVE it, so can’t wait to try this one!

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – 3ml Value $5.50
Lord & Berry Silk Kohl Kajal Eyeliner – Value $4

I almost bought this mascara last week because I wanted to try it. Urban Decay has a shade called Perversion in their 24/7 eyeliners, and it is known to be one of the blackest eyeliners there is, and I love that, so I’m super excited to see if this mascara is super black like the liner. Ok, even though this Lord & Berry liner is the tiniest eyeliner I have ever seen, it is super smooth and creamy, and goes on really nicely and black. I’ll keep this in my bag for touch-ups.

So, as you can tell, I love everything in the bag! I paid $10, and I received $31.20 worth of products. I’m very pleased this month!

What did you get in your bag?
