Most Used Eye Brushes

Having the right brush is important when applying eye makeup. You need certain brushes for different things, and I like to use quite a few when I do my eyes. Today I am going to be sharing the eye brushes that I reach for the most when applying eye makeup. To see the first part of this series, Most Used Face Brushes, click here.

Real Techniques Brow Brush – I use this brush for…you guessed it, my eyebrows! It is angled just perfect to apply my brow powder.

Sigma Blending E25 – I use this brush to put my eyeshadow down all over my lid. Sigma brushes are great quality and this one is verrrry similar to MAC’s 217 brush. I use this for my crease too.

Sigma Tapered Blending E35 – This brush is great for blending, it is the perfect size, and I like how it is tapered a little bit more than the E40.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Eye Brush – this is a great brush for blending also. It is similar to E35, except smaller, but it is pretty dense and I use it a lot.

Crown Brush Concealer Brush – I like to use this brush with my under eye concealer. I dot my concealer under my eyes and then gently pat it into the skin with this brush.

Sephora Pro Smoky Liner Brush #24 – this brush was recommended to me for smudging out eyeliner, and I must say that I LOVE this brush. It is the perfect size, and it smudges the eyeliner (or shadow) underneath my lashline for that “smoky” look.

Real Techniques Setting Brush – I use this brush along with my NARS light reflecting setting powder in Translucent Crystal to set my under eye concealer. This brush is so soft and really good quality. It’s just the right size to fit right underneath my eyes.

Sigma Precision Round P82 Brush – I use this brush to apply cream eyeshadow to my lids. It is very dense and also blends the eyeshadow out really well.

Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush- I like this brush oddly enough to apply browbone highlight. It supposed to be used in the crease but I feel like it’s a little big for that. I use the E25 for my crease also.

So, those are my most used eye brushes! I know it seems like a lot, but I don’t use all of these every single day.

What are some of your favorite eye brushes?

Buy This Not That: Eye Brighteners

20140922-192230.jpg

Ok, I love MAC. It’s one of, if not my favorite, makeup brand. The only things that I don’t particularly like from MAC are their mascaras and their liquid foundations…although I haven’t tried the Face & Body Foundation yet, and I think I would like that one. Anyway, my point is, is that I am always pleasantly surprised whenever I try a new product from them. However, this eye brightener did not wow me and I actually prefer the drugstore equivalent!

This is the MAC Prep + Prime in the shade Radiant Rose. This is a highlighting stick that is a pinky-salmon tone that is supposed to be used to highlight the face and disguise blue-toned undereye circles. I have pretty bad dark circles, and I have loved the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Corrector in Brightener since it came out. I use this every single day to disguise my dark circles and I haven’t found anything better. So, I waited until I ran out of my tube to try the MAC Prep + Prime.

I can’t believe how disappointed I am in this product! The color is exactly the same, a salmon toned color, and it looks just the same as the Maybelline one. The reason I don’t like this is because it has a runnier consistency than the Maybelline one, and it doesn’t cover as good! The Maybelline one actually has more pigmentation. You get a LOT of product in the Maybelline one, and I don’t think you get that much judging by the packaging of the MAC one. It also creases in my undereye area, even if I set it with powder like I always do.

I will use this product up because I purchased it, and it’s not a BAD product. I just like the Maybelline one wayyyy better, and that NEVER happens! Haha.

So, the MAC Prep + Prime is $26, while the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is around $7. I think I’ll be sticking with the Maybelline one.

I have a full review on the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Concealer here.

What is your favorite product to use underneath your eyes?

Colorful SEPHORA Brand Liners

Come on, jump out of the neutral zone and get some color on those eyes! If you aren’t into bright colors all over your lids, you should try a colorful liner! The right shade of colorful liner can make your eyes pop and add a little something special to your look. I have been loving these Sephora Contour 12 Hr Waterproof Pencils.

These pencils come in 35 different colors (a shade for everyone!) and they are comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. They are creamy and smudgeable, but once they set, they really are waterproof. The colors are crazy pigmented, too!

When I use one of the bright ones, like Eccentric Diva or Summer Cruise, I just like to use it on the bottom waterline or smudged into my lower lash line. When using the deeper colors, like Love Affair or Sailor Suit, I line all around my eyes with them. Even though they are dark, they do look noticeably different on the eyes without looking too bright.

Eccentric Diva – a bright, shimmery purple

Summer Cruise – a beautiful, metallic, bright turquoise

Love Affair – a deep plum

Sailor Suit – a deep navy blue

These pencils are $10, which in my opinion is a steal. Drugstore liners like Loreal are around the same price! People often overlook the Sephora house brand, but some of their products are really nice!

Have you tried these out?

MAC Syrup Lipstick DUPE + Swatches

20140922-160353.jpg

Who loves MAC Syrup? It is one of my favorite, go-to lipsticks. It is a perfect, mauve-pink that is a great everyday color. If you are looking for a “my lips but better color” but don’t like nude lipsticks, this color is for you!

20140922-161101.jpg

The dupe that I found is Revlon Super Lustrous in Sassy Mauve.

20140922-160914.jpg

Syrup is a Lustre finish, meaning it does have some shine to it. Sassy Mauve is a Creme, so it doesn’t quite have the shine, but it is definitely gives a satin (not matte) finish. The formula of these Super Lustrous lipsticks are awesome-great pigmentation and staying power, plus no offensive smell!

As you can see, the actual color is VERY similar.

MAC lipsticks retail for $16, while the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks cost around $5, depending on what drugstore you go to. What a deal!

IPSY Glambag September 2014

It’s that time of the month again! What did IPSY send meee? The past couple of months I have been so excited about what I have gotten in my bag, and September’s is no exception. My IPSY bags just keep getting better and better!

Oh, and guess what? This is my 200th BLOG POST! How crazy is that? How in the world have I thought of 200 things to write about???

Ok, onto the bag.

20140912-150837.jpg

For those of you who don’t know, IPSY is a beauty sample subscription box where you pay $10 a month (you can cancel anytime) and they send you a grab bag full of goodies based on your profile every month. Most of the time they send full size products! The value of what is in the box is always over $10, and it’s a great way to try out new products!

20140912-150710.jpg

This month’s theme is “Street Style” and came with 5 products in this metallic silver bag with silver studs at the top. I actually really like the design and size of this bag, and I’m going to use it in my purse for all of my lip products!

Pacifica 7 Free Nail Color in Red Red Wine – FULL SIZE Value $9
Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet – FULL SIZE Value $13
Be A Bombshell Smooth Criminal Setting Powder – FULL SIZE Value $12

Wow, 3 full size products so far! LOVE this nail color; a perfect burgundy color for fall. This lipstick is also very pretty, it is a deep berry red that I can’t wait to try out! This powder reminds me of the MUFE HD Setting Powder, which I love, so I’m anxious to try this one out. I like to use those types of setting powders over the top of my undereye concealer.

Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream – Value $8.50
Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser – Value $2.37

This hand cream is amazing! It doesn’t have a very strong scent, which I love, and it is so moisturizing without being greasy at all. This may be my new favorite hand cream. I’ll definitely use this cleanser, I like these smaller sizes to take on trips, and this one smells really good.

So, I paid $10 for this bag, and I received $44.87 worth of goodies! I love everything in this bag and I always look forwards to seeing those pink envelopes in my mailbox!

What did you get in your bag?
