New MAC Goodies

Do you love MAC as much as I do? I recently purchased a few things (some new, some repurchases), and I thought I would share them with you all. MAC is such a great place to buy makeup and their makeup artists are always so helpful and nice. Also, do you know about the Back2MAC program? You can take in 5 empty containers and they will let you exchange them for a lipstick or eyeshadow (depending on where you go). I wish Sephora did that. Haha. Anyway, here is what I bought. Let me know if you have tried any of these!

Fix Plus – This is a repurchase for me. Fix Plus is my little bottle of heaven; my secret weapon if you will. This is a refreshing spray for your face that smells SO good. I like to use it after I’m done with my makeup to take away the “powdery” look. I also spritz it onto my eyeshadow brush before applying shimmery shadows to make them look better and more pigmented. I love this stuff. It’s nice to keep a bottle in the fridge when it is hot outside too just to mist on your face.

Frost Blush in Margin – This blush is new to me, and I have no idea what took me so long to try it! This color is not one I would typically go for, I usually pick up peachy or pink blushes. This blush is a frost, but there aren’t any glitter chunks in it, it just gives a gorgeous sheen to the cheeks. The color is very natural-almost rose gold colored. It is BEAUTIFUL.

Lustre Lipstick in Syrup – This is a repurchase for me. If you have reading my blog for awhile, you know that the Lustre finish is my favorite finish of MAC lipsticks. I like them because they are sheer, but you can build them up. I also love how moisturizing and glossy they look and feel on the lips. This color is a “my lips but better” color. It is very similar to Plumful, but lighter. This is my perfect everyday mauve-y pink lipstick.

Lip Pencil in Dervish – I wanted to try this color because I know that brown-y pink lips are very in right now and for the fall. This is a gorgeous color that is not too brown, but it’s definitely not a bright pink. MAC lip liners are my favorite; they really do help your lipstick stay on forever, and they don’t dry out your lips!

Eye Kohl in Teddy – this is another repurchase. I LOVE MAC EYE KOHLS. These and the Urban Decay 24/7 liners are the only ones that actually stay on the waterline and don’t smudge. This color is a deep brown with shimmer. It is so pretty and is similar to Bourbon from Urban Decay. I love to wear brown eyeliner instead of black sometimes because it really softens your look. A brown smokey eye with this liner is PERFECTION.

Veluxe eye shadow in Sketch – This is also a repurchase! I love this color, it is a deep plum purple with golden shimmer. If you have brown eyes, you need this in your life. Even if you have hazel and green eyes, this would look amazing on you. It is a beautiful color and perfect for a deep plum eye look. Very fall and winter appropriate.

Make Your Blowout & Style Last Longer!

Who has the time to wash, blow dry, and style their hair every day? Not me, and it’s actually better for your hair if you don’t. I usually wash my hair every other or every 3 days. Here are some of my tips and tricks to make your hairstyle stay looking nice for longer, and how you can go in between washes without feeling like your hair is dirty!

TIP #1 : Dry Shampoo is your BFF.

20140910-114623.jpgMy two favorites.

Dry shampoo is a must have when rocking dirty hair. The way that I like to use it when I wake up in the morning is to lift up my hair in sections and spray it directly on the roots. Make sure you hold the can a good 6-8 inches away from your hair, or you will end up with a big ol’ wet spot. Then, after I am done spraying it all over (about a 1/2 can, lol), I put my hair up into a shower cap and take my shower. I do not brush the dry shampoo out immediately. I wait until after my shower so it has time to soak into the hair and absorb the oil. Then, after my shower, I brush it all out and do some styling if I need to.

TIP #2: Hairspray.

20140910-114723.jpgLove these two. Flexible hold and tons of volume.

Limp, lifeless hair is all part of it if you choose to not wash your hair everyday. Hairspray will fix that in a flash. Spraying hairspray on your roots helps with volume and can also help with holding back the hair out of your face.

TIP #3: Use a clarifying shampoo.

20140910-114908.jpg

Using a clarifying shampoo will help to get all of the dry shampoo and hairspray out of your hair, and will also leave your hair squeaky clean. I like to use a clarifying shampoo because I notice that after a day or two of not washing, my hair still is not greasy. I’m not sure if people with color-treated hair can use this, though- so if you have color treated hair, you may want to skip this part!

TIP #4: Hair Primer

20140910-114828.jpg

This is a primer for your HAIR that is supposed to help with going in between washes. After you wash your hair, you are supposed to apply this to your whole head, even the top (weird, I know) and then blow dry and style as usual. It is supposed to help extend the style and help with greasiness.

TIP #5: Get Creative.

20140910-114948.jpgMy favorite: twist and pin.

So by day 3, my hair doesn’t look that great, so what I like to do is to get creative with my hair, and also get it out of my face. Use a cute headband, hair barrettes or clips and get the hair out of your face. A braid, top knot, or a ponytail works too.

So those are all of my tips for making your blowout and style last longer! Do you have any tips to share? Leave a comment so we can discuss!

LORAC PRO Palette

20140903-210706.jpg

Would you look at this beauty? I finally got my hands on this baby and I LOVE it. If I had to choose only one makeup palette to use forever, this one would be it!

This palette contains 16 shadows – 8 matte and 8 shimmery. It comes in a super thin package with a big mirror and magnetic closure. It includes matte and shimmer highlight colors, lots of great transition and crease colors, and a black shade, which I always look for when I am buying palettes.

Now, the pigmentation. Oh, the pigmentation, people! You barely need to tap your brush into the color, and each shadow has great color payoff. My favorite colors are Cream (a matte highlight), Light Bronze (golden shimmer), Pewter (dark bronze), Mauve (the PERFECT crease/transition color), and Garnet (a burgundy shimmer).

If you are looking for a palette that you can create tons of different looks with, I would suggest this one for sure! The colors are so soft and blend in like a dream. I love how this palette includes mattes and shimmers; making it perfect for travel!

Do you have this palette?

August 2014 Favorites

20140902-231507.jpg

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it is already September! I didn’t have many new favorites last month, but here are some things I have been using a lot!

20140903-194631.jpg

20140903-194642.jpg

The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter – I am not going to have a problem using this up before winter! This stuff smells delicious like warm coconut and it is so thick and creamy. You will smell this all day when you wear it. Just go smell it if you love coconut!

20140903-194952.jpg

MAC blush in Fleur Power – this is a good everyday blush and I’ve been using it a lot to get a natural looking flush on my cheekbones. This is a satin blush, so it has no shimmer or glitter, but it gives a pretty dewy-like finish. MAC describes this color as a pinkish-coral, but I would describe it as a medium toned bubblegum pink.

20140903-195418.jpg

Fresh SUGAR Lip Polish – I just want to say that I LOVE everything I try from Fresh. This lip scrub is no exception. I like to use this before I apply lipstick or any lip product and not only does it exfoliate all of the dead skin off, but it smells (and looks) like brown sugar. It leaves your lips SO SOFT and full of moisture.

20140903-195753.jpg

Chanel Gloss in 437 Eden – this is a bright pink sheer gloss with no glitter or shimmer. It looks great over ANY pink lip color, or great by itself. Chanel glosses are some of the best, they aren’t sticky and they actually do stay on! My 3 year old loves this color too!

20140903-200036.jpg

Maybelline Color Whisper in Made it Mauve – I can’t stop wearing this. This is the perfect “my lips but better” shade. If you are a lip balm girl, but you like a little sheer color, try these! They are so creamy and easy to apply, and they feel just like balm. I love them because you can wear them sheer for a pretty effect, or build up the color! You don’t need a gloss over them either, they give off a lot of shine!

20140903-200406.jpg

NYX Wonder Pencil in Light – this is a great nude pencil for the bottom waterline to use when you want to brighten up your eyes. I don’t like using white because I feel like it is way to harsh, so a nude one is just perfect. You can also use this to spot treat areas or blemishes on your face! Love it!

Mani Monday – Deborah Lippmann

20140830-114303.jpg

Hello! Today I chose this orange-y coral color for my nails, which i have been wearing constantly this summer. This color is Deborah Lippmann and is called Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

The formula of this polish is quite sheer and gel-like, so I applied two coats, and finished it off with a glitter topper on two fingers (Zoya Monet).

20140830-114518.jpg

20140830-114529.jpg

This is a bright orange coral that leans more red than pink. This color is VERY similar to Essie Peach Daquiri and Revlon Parfumerie in Ginger Melon. All of these are great coral colors!

What’s on your nails?
