My Go-To Daytime Smokey Eye

In my opinion, smokey eyes aren’t just for nighttime.  You can smoke out any kind of eye look to play up your eye shape and the color of your eyes.  Sometimes during the day, I get tired of the same kind of bronze-y eye look and like to change it up.  This is when I do my “daytime” smokey eye.  Let’s get started.

The first thing I do is prime my eyes.  You can use any kind of eye primer (even concealer works for me), and put it all over your lids and just underneath the lashline.  I then take a black liner and line the top lashline with a really thick line going about half of the way on the lid.  I then take a smudge brush and smudge it out.

I like to take a silver gray shadow like MAC’s Knight Divine and pack it on the lid, and use a matte gray shadow like MAC’s Copperplate for a transition color.  On the “outer v” of the eye I usually use black, like MAC’s Carbon to deepen up the look.  After I’m done with the lid, I take the colors on a liner brush and smudge them on the lower lashline.

To give the eyes some definition, I always use a liquid or gel liner on the top lashline, and I use a pencil liner on the inner rims and tight line.  Top it off with a few coats of mascara (maybe some lashes?) and I’m all done.  A smokey look perfect for daytime.  It’s not too over the top, and doesn’t look like you belong at the club. Haha.

Since the eyes are darkened, I like to keep it simple with lips and cheeks.  A wash of baby doll pink on the cheeks and a tinted balm on the lips.

Do you like smokey eyes for daytime?
