2 Mascara Review: A Fave and a Flop

I recently tried out two (fairly new) mascaras from the drugstore.  I am usually pretty picky about mascaras, and always searching for the perfect one.  I tend to like Maybelline mascaras best, so it was no surprise that I loved this new Lash Sensational mascara.  Loreal Miss Manga on the other hand, was a flop.  I’m not sure why I keep trying Loreal mascaras, they don’t ever work out for me!

Let’s talk about the fave first.

Love the pink packaging – similar shape of my favorite mascara of all time, Maybelline Volum Express Rocket.  The brush is rubber, which I like.  One side has very short bristles, which I believe keeps it from clumping, and the other side has longer bristles further apart.  This mascara promises volume and curl, and it delivers.  It is super black, goes on easy and smudge-free (thank goodness).  Does anyone else freak when mascara smudges all over your perfectly eyeshadowed eyelids?  Ughhhh!!!  It’s the worst.  But, you won’t have that problem with this one.  It also holds a curl all day, and when you remove it at night, tons of fibers come off, and it’s pretty easy to remove.  This mascara gets an A+ from me!  It’s just as good as my Rocket.  That, my dears, is saying a lot.

Ok, on to the flop.  This clumpy mess called Miss Manga.

This mascara is a mess, that is the only way I can describe it.  As soon as I opened up the package and looked at the wand, I knew I wasn’t going to like this.  I have tried a LOT of mascaras, and I know what I like.  The packaging is nice and sleek, and the mascara is very black.  Those are the good things. This brush is very soft, which I think is the problem.  The bristles aren’t rubbery and firm, they are flimsy and the mascara is already clumped all over them.  When I applied this to my lashes, it weighed them down because it is just a wet formula.  They immediately clumped all together and as I was trying to separate them, it smudged on my top AND BOTTOM lashline.  It takes awhile to dry and when it does, it’s real hard on your eyelashes and doesn’t hold the curl.

After this mess, I decided to let the tube dry out a bit to see if it got better.  It didn’t.  It was still clumpy and wet.  This mascara just didn’t work out for me at all.

If you’re looking for a new mascara, try out the Maybelline Lash Sensational!  It’s a really good one.

Thanks for reading, xo Amy

  1. Thumbs down on Miss Manga 😦 Wasn’t it weird how “bendy” the brush was?! Ick. I’m maybeeeee going to splurge on the Roller Lash in the Sephora sale 🙂 Are you getting any new ones?

    1. Yes, so weird…What is the point of making the brush bend? Oh yes, I have been wanting to try that Roller Lash. I can’t wait for the sale. I don’t know if I’m getting any new mascaras, but I am definitely getting Benefit Hervana blush. 🙂
