Signature Fragrance

I think every girl has that one perfume that they always go back to.  A scent that you know will last on your skin, make you feel pretty, and sometimes make you nostalgic.  This scent for me is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum.

I started wearing this perfume about a decade ago, and even wore it on my wedding day.  It is the perfect blend of fruity and floral, and is a sophisticated scent that works for day or night.

The notes of this fragrance are bergamot, orange, jasmine, rose, patchouli, vetiver, white musk, and vanilla.  So, it does have some sweetness to it, but also some spice.

A little bit of this fragrance goes a long way, and will last on your skin.  I can’t stand when I buy a perfume and it doesn’t last – just seems like a waste.  I have other perfume in my collection, but this one, is by far my favorite.  I love how one spritz of this reminds me of my wedding, or going out with my friends.  It just takes me back to all of my good memories.

This perfume is very luxurious, I mean, it’s Chanel.  From the beautiful bottle to the pink liquid, it is the epitome of elegance and class.  I just love it.

The Cutest Mascara Ever: Benefit Roller Lash

I finally gave in and picked up this new mascara from Benefit called Roller Lash.  It was definitely the packaging that drew me in.  The little “roller” on the end is adorable (but so is all of Benefit’s packaging).  The tube just feels so sturdy and high-end, too.  Love it.

So, on the box, it claims to be a “super curling and lifting mascara” and is meant to be used without curling your eyelashes first.  Is that weird to anyone else?  It feels so wrong to apply mascara without using my curler first, but, I did it for the sake of this review.  You’re welcome.

So, the wand is small.  At first glance, I didn’t think I would like this because of the small wand.  I like mascaras with bigger wands, like Maybelline Rocket, Covergirl Lashblast and Benefit’s They’re Real.  My favorite mascaras all have rubber bristles, and that is just what I prefer.  Whenever I use a brush-like wand, I find that the mascara goes on unevenly and clumpy.

Anyway, this has a rubber wand with little nubs on one side that remind me of that little tool that you use to separate your lashes. WHICH MAKES SENSE.  And that part of the brush is what is actually supposed to grab onto the hairs and separate them WHILE CURLING. Genius Benefit, genius.  The other side is curved and the bristles are a little bit longer.

So I applied this to my eyelashes (without a curler) and was amazed.  It really does curl them without a curler. The formula is not a super wet consistency, which I really like.  It is very black, and doesn’t weigh down my lashes at all.  I experienced very little clumping and I apply a lot.  I don’t count how many coats I do, but I do sit there blinking for a long time.  Haha.

Throughout the day, I had ZERO flaking and smudging.  I would say that this mascara is really good for volume, but isn’t super lengthening, I mean it does give length, it’s just not anything crazy.  Volume is more important, in my opinion.  It made my lashes look really good, and it was easy to remove at the end of the day.  It doesn’t have fibers which is good.  That can get annoying when you are taking off your makeup (little fibers all over your face).

IF I was going to purchase a high end mascara, this one would be it.  It’s better than They’re Real in my opinion, and that’s my high-end fave!

So, if you like high-end mascara, I’m betting you will love this.  Y’all know that I’m a drugstore mascara kinda gal though.  I only use mascara for a couple of months (if even that) before I toss it, so I just like buying cheaper ones.  But, this is definitely a nice luxury product to use.  Sometimes you gotta treat yo self, you know?

Have you tried this mascara?

Lipstick Fit For A Queen

I’m talking of course about Lipstick Queen!  Do you guys know the brand?
This lipstick is a cult-favorite, and was sold exclusively on QVC until a couple of years ago when they came to ULTA.

These lipsticks have such pretty metal packaging and cool names.  I have three shades.

Jean Queen – a soft, warm pink – said to be the perfect lipstick to wear with jeans.

Medieval – see through “blood red”

Float – nude pink with hint of shimmer

These lipsticks are super moisturizing, and all give a glossy finish.  The application is so smooth and the texture of these are like buttah.  They are very similar to MAC lustre lipsticks which is probably why I love them so much!

They just came out with a “mood lipstick” called Frog Prince that I really want to try.  Remember mood lipsticks from the 90’s?  This one is supposed to “magically transform into your fairytale pink” !

How To:  Beachy Summer Waves

Wavy hair has been my go-to lately.  Living in Texas where it is already in the 90’s, and humid as can be, wavy is the only way to go.  Embrace the wavy-ness I say!

Here’s what I use.

So first off, I shampoo and condition my hair with this Suave Moroccan Infusion shampoo and conditioner.  Not only does this line leave your hair suuuper soft, but it smells AMAZING.

After I’m done washing, I towel dry my hair real good and spray this Loreal Blow Dry Quick Dry Primer Spray.  Love this stuff.  It really does make a difference in blow dry time, and it’s a heat protectant for hot tools.  I com that through my hair and then I spray this Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray all over and start scrunching my hair upwards.  This is a texturizing, sea salt spray that mattifies.  No crunchy, gel looking waves.  Just perfect, beachy (dry in a good way) looking waves.

I scrunch a little, and then flip my hair over and blow dry the underside of my hair.  I do this with my dryer on low while scrunching.  After that, I flip it over and dry it a little with my dryer.  Just until its about 90% dry.  I spray a little more of the salt spray and then I will go over it a little with my flat iron and curl some pieces that didn’t come out wavy.  If you curl with the flat iron and then pull the curl out right before its cooled, it will give you a wave instead of a curl.

Ta-da!  Beachy waves.

My hair is naturally pretty straight, so it takes a little effort to get it to wave the way I want it to.

Have you been loving beachy waves this summer?
