The Quick Review: Covergirl Supersizer Mascara

Whenever a new mascara hits the drugstore, I am compelled to try it.  I am very picky when it comes to mascara, and am on constant search for the perfect one.  Some of my favorite drugstore mascaras are Maybelline Volum Express Rocket, Lash Sensational and Covergirl Lash Blast.

I typically like the rubberized bristles and bigger wands when it comes to mascara.  So, when I saw this new one, by Covergirl called The Super Sizer, I knew I would have to give it a go.  I picked this up at my local H-E-B for around $6.

The packaging is real cute, with a teal and yellow tube.  It says it increases volume by 400%…honestly I don’t even read these claims on the package, because sometimes they are just so ridiculous.  It says it has a unique lash styler on the wand, and to twirl it when you’re applying.

The tube itself is really thick, but the wand is skinny and has a sort of angled brush.  It kind of reminds me of Benefit Roller Lash, which I love.

So, I applied this first thing in the morning, around 7:15 am when I usually do my makeup for the day.  The application was definitely weird.  It has a more “wet” formula and is thick.  It immediately clumps the lashes with just one coat.  I had to keep going over the lashes to try and de-clump them.  The wand was difficult for me to use, it gets bigger towards the outer edge, which made it very hard to get to my lashes.  I also had to keep re-positioning my hand to get my bottom lashes, which came out super clumpy.

On the bright side, this mascara is thickening.  It does give noticeable volume and thickness.  It however, does nothing to lengthen.  My lashes are the same length they were before applying the mascara.

I feel that even though it does give volume at first, the volume does not last.  Within a couple of hours, the volume was gone and I am just left with thick short lashes.

Volume and length are the two main reasons I use mascara, and this mascara fell short.  The wand is a problem, it is at a weird angle, which makes it hard to apply.

This one was a miss for me, which is sad, because I usually love Covergirl mascara!

Have you tried this?

Thanks for reading! xx
