DIY Bath Bombs

My best friend April and I had a crazy idea to make bath bombs (and a bunch of other bath products) the other night.  We had a lot of fun trying out all of the different recipes, and we were really impressed with how well the bath bombs came out!

I thought it would be fun to share the recipe with you all so you could DIY!  You can customize these any way that you want, using different scents, colors, and molds!  We plan to get some big ball shaped molds soon.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 2 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vitamin e oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Borax
  • 1 teaspoon essential oil (we used lavender)
  • Witch hazel in a spray bottle
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Silicone or plastic molds

Combine baking soda, citric acid, and corn starch in a large bowl.  Set aside.

In a different bowl, combine all of the wet ingredients and the Borax together.  Add your food coloring (if you want) and the essential oils last.

After that is all combined together, slowly drizzle it over your dry ingredients.  Don’t do this fast or it will start fizzing.

Start mixing it together with your fingers, and add the witch hazel in the spray bottle to it until it forms the consistency of sand.

Teamwork 🙂

Once it’s formed, press the mixture into your molds tightly, and leave overnight to dry up.

In the morning, pop them out and draw yourself a nice relaxing bath. The vitamin e and coconut oil will leave your skin moisturized, and the lavender oil will soothe and relax you.

Thanks for reading, and let me know if you try these out!

xx, Amy
