The weekend calls for waffles, am I right? I love to make waffles for my family because they can top them with anything they like.
Here is my recipe for cinnamon waffles, but if you don’t like cinnamon, you can leave that out and just have yourself a regular Belgian waffle.
Here’s what you need.
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Waffle Iron
First, whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together in a mixing bowl with a spout. Set this aside.
Next, separate the eggs. Put the egg whites into a larger mixing bowl and the egg yolks into a regular bowl.
Beat up the egg whites until they are stiff.
Add the milk and the egg yolks into the flour mixture and stir until smooth. Add in the oil and vanilla, and mix well. Then, gently fold in your egg whites. Do not overstir this – the reason we beat up the egg whites is so the batter will be light, making the waffles more fluffy.
After your waffle iron is heated, pour in the batter.
Close the iron and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes (depending on your iron).
Ta da! Perfect waffles. I like to top mine with syrup, but you can use anything you like. My girls love to eat theirs with strawberries and blueberries on top.
Hope you liked this recipe! Let me know if you try it out!
