Drawing Lines | The BEST Black Eyeliners

Eyeliner, we all love it, we all use it.   Whether you like pencil, liquid, or gel, I’ve got you covered with some high-end and drugstore options!  Let’s start with liquid, because who doesn’t love some winged liner?

I’ve been trying out the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and I really like it!  It looks like a felt tip, but it’s not, it’s actually a super fine brush tip.  It is so black, dries down matte, and stays all day!  It actually reminds me a lot of my favorite Stila Stay All Day Liner, which is so easy to use and gives the same results.  I usually like to stick with felt tip liners vs. brush tip, because I find that they are much easier to work with.  I also love my $1.99 Jordana Fabuliner, which is amazing for the price. It doesn’t have as fine of  point as the others, so I like to use this one when I am doing a thicker liner.  The last one here is the Maybelline Master Precise Liner, which I have talked about a ton!  I love this for winged liner, because the felt tip is so long that you can kind of lay it on it’s side to do your liner.  It’s so sharp and super black!  None of these liners drip or dry out quickly, and they last all day long.

Pencil liners are great for everyday looks.  I use them on the upper and lower lashlines, and also to tightline/waterline.  This Loreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner is a chubby pencil that I love to tightline with.  It is so creamy and black, and super easy to apply.  It actually stays in my waterline.  Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner also stays in my waterline ALL DAY.  I might like these more than UD. I know.  So creamy and easy to apply.  I love the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion for smudging.  This liner is very soft and super black, perfect for smudging on the upper or lower lashline for a smoky look.

Cream/Gel liners are so good for a bold and dramatic look.  They also are extremely waterproof, so they will last on the eyes.  I really like applying these liners with a super fine brush tip, like on the MAC 210 Brush.  This brush tip is sturdy and dense, so it glides over the skin letting you do a thin or thick line.  I really like the Loreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner and the Sephora Collection Outrageous Intense Gel Liner with this brush.  These do not budge and give a really nice dramatic effect to the eyes.

What’s your favorite liner?

Beauty Haul | Sephora VIB Sale + ULTA

Hey everyone!  Who can turn down a good sale?  I know I can’t, especially when it comes to beauty products!

Most of what I bought from the sale were gifts…as it is the holiday season, and it is better to give than receive…but I picked up a couple of things for myself that I needed (wanted) too.  I also stopped by ULTA recently for some goodies, and I will share those as well.

So Sephora had their VIB Sale a couple of weeks ago, so I had to save 20%!  I picked up the Urban Decay Mascara Resurrection, which I did a post on earlier this week – read it here.  It’s basically a serum that you apply to your lashes after you’ve had mascara on for awhile, and it softens them for more coats of mascara.  It’s really good.  Another Urban Decay product I picked up is a backup of my my favorite setting spray – Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray.  This stuff is bomb and keeps your makeup on all day.  It feels so cooling and hydrating every time you spray it on.

I also grabbed a Shiseido Eyelash Curler because I needed a new one, and I’ve heard great things about this one.  Another thing from Urban Decay that I picked up is this eyeshadow in Lounge, which is a really cool duo chrome color, it is described as brick red with a green shift.  It looks amazing.  I finally decided to join the party and bought the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.  This powder is supposed to be great for setting undereye concealer, so I’m gonna give it a try!

I haven’t really tried THAT much from Clinique, but they seem to be coming out with more things that appeal to me, like this Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlighter.  This is a really beautiful cream highlight color that I can use on the tops of my cheekbones, and I love that it’s in stick form.  I also grabbed a couple more of the Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow and Liner Pencils in Gold and Violet.  These are chubby little pencils that can be used as eyeshadow or liner, and they are super creamy, smooth, and easy to blend.  I really like these.

Ok, sooo the last thing I just HAD to get was this 500 point perk which is called Urban Decay Vices – it comes with a little palette and an eyeliner and it just looked too good to pass up!

Ok, onto ULTA!

I needed some new body wash, and I only buy the huge kind with the pump!  This time I got the Soap&Glory Sugar Crush Bodywash which I have never tried, but I LOVE Soap&Glory’s products and this one smells exactly like a fresh lime margarita!  Can’t wait to try it out.  The next thing I got was this Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry Express Primer , and the pink bottle and the promise of lowering drying time are what drew me in!  It also smells amazing.  I picked up another Essence Lipstick in Natural Beauty, which is a beautiful nude color that I wear a ton.  It’s $2.99 and amazing. MY LIPS BUT BETTAH.

You know I can’t go to ULTA without grabbing some nail colors!  I found these two hanging out in the clearance bin!  They were $4.25 each (half price)!  They are both from the Essie Cashmere Matte 2015 Collection and are Coat Couture (a purple taupe with teal shift) and Spun in Luxe (a gorgeous blue black with shimmer).  These are matte nail shades which I am into, and perfect colors for fall and winter. Score!  Always check out that bin when you go.  I also got some eyeliner pencils, Rimmel Scandaleyes pencils in Black and Brown (total dupes for Urban Decay, in my opinion) which I have used before and love.  Also, the Loreal Infallible Silkissime liner in Highlight , which looks is a gorgeous pink gold color.

The last thing I got was for my little shopping gal pal, my sweet four year old Allison. She went with me to ULTA by herself and I told her she could pick out anything in the store that she wanted.  Of course, she immediately said lipgloss (which I knew she’d say), and so I took her to the Maybelline section to scope out those new Baby Lips Lip Glosses.  I knew she would want one, because…the packaging.  It looks like little girl makeup!  She picked out Fuchsia Flicker because it was the bright pink one (of course).  She likes it!

Ok, whew seems like a lot, but it was more than one trip!

If you want an in-depth review of anything shown here, let me know and I’ll be happy to do it!  I’m excited to try all of these new things!

EAT | Chicken Noodle Soup

There is nothing better on a cold day than a warm and comforting bowl of soup (and a big hunk of bread)! In addition to my Chicken Tortilla Soup, this soup is another of my family’s favorites.  This soup is hearty and delicious, and I hope you like it too!

What you’ll need:

  • 2 or 3 cooked and shredded chicken breasts
  • 6 oz egg noodles
  • 4 cans chicken broth
  • 1 small onion, chopped*
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp sage
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley

Heat oil in soup pot with onion and carrots.

Add shredded chicken and sauté.  Stir in bay leaves, salt, pepper, sage, and thyme.

Add chicken broth and bring to boil.

Simmer for 10 minutes.  Bring back up to a boil and add your egg noodles.

Cook for 10 minutes until noodles are soft.  Discard bay leaves and onions (you didn’t think we were gonna eat those, did you?) and stir in parsley.
 Yum.
 Serve.

Doesn’t it look delicious?

*I know there are a lot of people out there who don’t like onions, so here’s a tip.  If you (or your family) don’t like them, cut the onion into very large chunks, and after cooking, remove them.  This way the soup will still have the onion flavor, but you won’t have the chunks of onion in the soup.*

I hope you guys like this soup, and will try it out!

Play! By Sephora | November 2015

Well, I guess dreams do come true!

I am sooo very excited to bring you this post today!  I was able to get my little hands on the brand new Sephora beauty subscription box called Play! By Sephora.

In the past, I have subscribed to other boxes, and I have not been thrilled with the products I received, nor did I end up using all of the products each month.  I kind of just felt like it was a bunch of junk that I’d never heard of, tbh.

When I found out Sephora was offering a box, I knew I had to try it, because I want to use products and brands that I have heard about and seen before.  There is a wait list since it is brand new and it is in high demand (obvi), so use the link below to be notified when the box will be available to you.

Sign up here to get on the wait list for the box!

This box is $10 a month, and they will send you 6 deluxe size samples from prestige brands.  You don’t take a quiz or anything, and you can’t select what products to receive.  This box is a total surprise, and that’s why I like it!  Also, everyone who is subscribed gets the same exact products.  No box envy here! Haha.

So, let’s jump into November’s box!  When you open up your mailbox, you will see a black and white striped box that says Sephora on the side.  And then, inside that box is this little box with the lipstick print.

When you open the box, you will see  this booklet, and it tells you all about each product.  This little book is actually useful and fun to look through.

And then under that are all of the products!

Josie Maran Argan Oil – this is a multipurpose beauty oil that you can use on your face or body.  I like to mix a drop into my foundation.

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Rhubarb – Bite is known for their “edible” lip products that don’t contain any harsh chemicals.  I haven’t tried these pencils, but I love their lipsticks.  This pencil is a beautiful color (a plum rose), can’t wait to try it.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizer Hydrating Primer – I’m so excited to receive this product, as I’ve been wanting to try these primers out.  I’m glad they sent a hydrating one, because I have dry skin, so maybe this will help!

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly –  I have tried the Buxom lip glosses in the past, but not these lip creams.  The glosses are amazing and non-sticky, so I’m hoping this is just as good.  The color is a creamy mauve, and looks really pretty.

Stella McCartney Stella EDP – Ordinarily I wouldn’t care much about receiving a perfume sample, but this perfume happens to be one of my favorite scents of all time.  It’s very floral, with Rose and peony notes, which I love.

Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12 HR Wear Waterproof Pencil in My Boyfriend’s Jeans – I have a bunch of these pencils, but not this color.  I love to use a purple or blue liner as long as they aren’t too bright, and this one fits the bill. It’s a pretty sparkly cobalt blue color.

So, I am very pleased with this box . I love that the lip colors are actually WEARABLE colors that I will try out.  The eye pencil is also a nice color.  These are all either products I have tried in the past, or have seen and wish to try.  Everything is a sample size, but they are bigger samples (similar to 100 point perks).  I can’t wait to see what’s in my next box!

Have you signed up for this box?

Urban Decay Mascara Resurrection – Bring Your Lashes Back To Life?

We’ve all been there.  You apply your mascara at 7 am, go about your day, and by 7 pm, your lashes aren’t looking so great for your dinner plans.  Do you wash your face and start all over?  Ugh, no time for that!  Apply mascara over your crunchy-been-on-all-day lashes?  No, that’d probably look worse.
ENTER.  The lash resurrector.

This is Urban Decay’s Mascara Resurrection.  This product promises to bring dry, day old lashes back to life, so you can apply more mascara and be clump free.  This product is infused with a serum, to make lashes soft and ready for another coat, without removing the mascara that is already there.

This product retails for $16, and is just like a regular tube of mascara, but the product is a lightweight, clear gel.  The wand is nice and big, with a curved brush for easy application.  I apply a couple of coats of this to my dry mascara, and it instantly makes them soft again so that I can apply a fresh coat (or two) of my favorite mascara on top.

Have you tried this?
