2 Drugstore Primers For Dry Skin

It used to be a challenge to find a good drugstore primer, but now lots of brands are coming out with great primers to try.  Having dry skin, I like to find primers that are not only moisturizing, but also help my foundation go on smoothly.

I like primers that are illuminating, and this one from Loreal is really nice.  This is the Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer.  The packaging on this is amazing for drugstore (it even has a pump!), but the product inside is even more amazing.  The product itself is a pearl color with an irridescence to it. This is verrrry similar to MAC’s Strobe Cream.  The texture is more liquid than lotion, and feels like a really lightweight moisturizer when applied.  Immediately upon blending into your skin, you will notice the brightening effects.  This product does not contain glitter or shimmer, but does make the skin look dewy and fresh.  This primer makes my foundation go on smoothly and makes it look bright and luminous.  Perfect for dull, dry skin.

The next one is a pore-filling primer.  This is Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.  This product, in my opinion, is Maybelline’s answer to the Benefit Porefessional, which is my favorite primer of all time.  This product is specially made to fill in pores and blur imperfections.  The packaging is a simple squeeze tube, and the product inside is a clear gel.  The texture is very silicone-y and smooth.  I gently pat this into my skin and it does smooth over the pores, while adding moisture to my face.  My foundation glides over it and looks super smooth.  It really does blur my pores and give a more even complexion.

Now, I’m not sure how these primers would do on oily skin, as I have really dry skin.  They do add more moisture and give a dewy finish to the skin – so give them a try if you’re looking for a new primer!

Do you have a favorite primer from the drugstore?

Thanks for reading! xx

Definitely keen to try the Maybelline

  3. Ahh I was googling the Baby Skin primer yesterday haha! My skin is combination and I kind of need a new primer (my current one is about to finish aaaand it’s discontinued). It seems like all the silicone primers should work the same but you never know till you try… The Maybelline packaging is so pretty though 🙂
