Play! By Sephora | May 2016

Hey friends!  I am always so excited when I  see my Play By Sephora box waiting for me in the mail.  Right off, I noticed the packaging for this May box was different, but it still included great products!  Let’s get into it.

In case you don’t know, this box is $10 a month, and they will send you 6 deluxe size samples from prestige brands. You don’t take a quiz or anything, and you can’t select what products to receive. There is currently a wait list for this box, so sign up here to get on the list ASAP!

In all of the previous boxes, it has come with a separate box inside with all of the products.  This month, they have put the products in a little drawstring pouch, which I like!  I think using a separate box is kind of wasteful, and I can find a use for this pouch!  They still included the pamphlet with tips and tricks for using the products, and I really like that.

Origins Maskimizer + Drink Up & Clear Improvement Masks – I am a huge fan of Orgins, so I was happy to see a couple of mask samples and their new Maskimizer product in here.  The Maskimizer is basically like a primer for your face mask, and supposed to help it work even better.  There are also samples of the Clear Improvement Charcoal mask for deep cleansing, and the Drink Up hydrating mask for moisturization.  I love face masks, so I’m excited to try these!

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine – this perfume smells of blood orange and geranium, and it is a very citrus-y scent.  This perfume is supposed to have a high concentration of essential oils, so we will see how long it lasts on the skin!

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!  Deep Conditioning Mask – I am so excited to try this out.  I LOVE hair products, especially conditioning masks, and this one smells so good.  It has argan and avocado oils, which are very nourishing for hair.  I’m going to try this tomorrow!

Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial – I have tried a few things from Korres, but never this product.  This is a lightweight overnight mask that is said to moisturize and brighten the skin.  I love anything rose scented, so can’t wait to try this out.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram – this looks like a nice nude lip pencil, and I love that it’s retractable.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in Kimchi – this is hot pink color that reminds me a lot of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum lipstick.  This is a matte formula, and is supposed to be high-pigment and hydrating.

What do you think of this month’s box?

EAT | 5 Minute Chocolate Mug CAKE

Are you ever craving something sweet but don’t want to make a whole batch of brownies or a whole cake?  Well, have I got the  dessert for you!  This is my favorite chocolate mug cake that takes only 5 minutes or less to make!  It’s basically a single serve brownie, and it’s so moist and delicious! The ingredients are probably already in your pantry, so let’s get started!

What you need:

  • 1/4 c flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 c + 1 tbsp milk (any milk)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Whisk all of your dry ingredients together.

Add in your milk and vegetable oil, and whisk together till smooth.

Pour the batter into your mug, and make sure you are using a large mug because it will rise a bit.

Place in microwave and cook for 1 minute and 20 seconds.  Be careful when removing, the mug will be very hot.

I like to let this cool for about 15 min, and then top with ice cream and fudge.

Friday FAVES

Hey guys!  Happy Friday.  I hope y’all are having a good week.  Today’s post is all about the makeup (and skincare) products that I’ve been loving lately.  Let’s get into it!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette – I dedicated an entire blog post to this beauty last week, and I have been using it every single day since I purchased it.  The colors are so smooth, pigmented and so gorgeous!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance – this eyeshadow primer is an old fave that I used to use ALL the time, and I just recently bought a new tube of it.  I like how it’s skin colored, so it cancels out uneven lids and veins, and it dries to a powdery finish.  It really does help my eyeshadow stay on all day.  Love this stuff.

Sigma E35 Blending Brush – this is a smaller version of the E40 brush, (which I actually like to use for cheek highlight).  This brush is so perfect for blending out any harsh lines at the end of doing my eyes.  I use it clean and go back and forth to do my final blend.  It’s so soft and just the perfect size.

Sephora Collection Eye Masks – I love the way these masks make my eyes feel.  I keep them in my fridge and they are so cooling, hydrating, and I feel like they really help my eye area to look more awake.  I like the Lotus and Rose ones best.

Covergirl Oh Sugar! Lip Balm in Jelly – I love these tinted balms.  This one here in Jelly smells like lemon and vanilla, and it is so hydrating!  I love a purple-y pink toned lip, so this color is perfect.  It gives such a nice sheer wash of color and adds a ton of shine.

Wet N Wild Coloricon Ombré Blush in In A Purple Haze – here is another pinky-purple favorite, this new blush from Wet N Wild.  This blush is a verrry light color, you almost can’t even see it on my arm swatch, but it looks so good once its applied to the cheeks.  It gives a pretty sheen and goes on so  smooth.  I love the purple hue of it and I think it’s really flattering on my skin.

Here’s a swatch of the Jelly balm and the blush.

BEST Drugstore Lip Liners

I was shopping with my sister the other day, and she asked me which drugstore lipliners I thought were good.  I immediately thought of so many that I love, and pretty much all of them are from the drugstore!  Lip liners are one of the things that I believe you absolutely do not have to spend a lot of money on to get great quality.  Here are my picks!

Rimmel London Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liners ($6) – creamy, retractable, matte, and they stay on forever.  Shown here are Eastend Snob and Enchantment.

Jordana Easyliner For Lips ($6) – just like the Rimmel liners, these are so creamy and super matte.  I love the retractable pencil!  The color shown here is Tawny.

NYX Slim Lip Pencils ($3.50) – these pencils remind me so much of MAC pencils, except way more creamy- sometimes MAC’s are drying.  These come in a ton of colors, too.  Pictured here are Peekaboo Neutral and Mauve.

Revlon Colorstay Lip Liner ($9) – this lip pencil is my favorite red, the shade is actually just called Red, and it goes with any red lipstick.  It is so smooth and it has a little sharpener included in the bottom.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner ($8) – this lipliner is so pretty, it has a sheen to it and is really creamy.  This color is Beloved, and is a purple pink color.

Colourpop Lippie Pencils ($5) – I love Colourpop.  These pencils are sooo creamy, sometimes I just wear them as lipstick.  This is the ultimate MLBB shade, Lumiere.

What’s your favorite lipliner?

OBSESSED | Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in A Palette

When I see these all-in-one face and eye palettes, I usually pass on them.  There’s always a couple of colors or products that I know right away that I won’t use, and that makes it not worth it to me.  If I am going to spend a lot of money on a palette like that, I want to make sure I will like and use everything included.

This time I splurged.  Behold.  The Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette 5 Minute Face On The Go.

I purchased this palette from Nordstrom as soon as it came out.  The eyeshadows are extremely wearable and neutral, and the cheek colors are exactly what I would pick out.  I really feel like if I created my own palette, this is exactly what I would do.

So, the palette is a very nice size, and you get a big mirror too.  The products are numbered in the order that you are supposed to use them, so if you are new to makeup, this is perfect for you.

The eyeshadows include a very light matte cream/pink color, and this color is supposed to be used all over the lid as a base to brighten up the area.

The second color is a gold/taupe color that is so shimmery and perfect for all over the lid.

The last color is a matte medium brown, used for deepening up the crease or outer v for some definition.  These colors are so buttery, soft, and so pigmented.  It is Charlotte Tilbury, after all.  She knows what she is doing.

Here are the eyeshadow swatches:

Next, there is a nice cool toned bronzer with some shimmer.  The shimmer is very minimal and doesn’t show up once applied.  This color isn’t orange at all, and gives that sunkissed look.

There are also two blush colors included, a shimmery, dusty peachy-pink color, and a matte, brighter cool toned pink.  Both colors are gorgeous- the peachy pink looks like a pretty, natural flush, and the bright pink gives a nice pop of color to the cheeks and still looks natural.

The last color is the highlight.  This highlight is so pretty.  It is  shimmery, champagne gold that gives such a nice sheen to the cheekbones without glitter or sparkle.  Just glow.

All of these colors are pigmented, and so soft and creamy.  They blend like a freakin dream.

Here I am wearing all of the products in the palette.

I am obsessed with this.  It is probably my favorite makeup item that I’ve ever purchased.  I knew as soon as I saw it that the colors were perfect.

Having said that, I do not think that this palette would work on deeper skin tones.  The colors are pretty light, but you can build them up.  If you are a fair to medium skintone, you will love this.  I have heard buzz about a deeper colored palette coming out, so hopefully that will be an option soon.

I LOVE this palette and I’m so happy with my purchase.  This is perfect for someone who travels a lot, or someone who is on the go and needs to get ready fast.  This palette is quick, easy, and looks so natural and pretty.  I will be reaching for this a ton this summer.

Do you like this palette?

Thanks for reading! xx
