Ride Or Die Makeup

I’ve gotten a few requests to do Jaclyn Hill’s Ride Or Die Makeup Tag.  I looked it up, and basically you just name your favorite product from each category of makeup. This was VERY HARD, because there are so many things that I love, but here is what I came up with!

PrimerBenefit Porefessional – this is a silicone based primer that I have been using for YEARS when I want to blur my pores for a flawless look.  This helps my foundation go on smoothly and really makes it last.  I only use primer for special occasions since I don’t have oily skin, and I don’t usually have a problem with my makeup lasting.

FoundationLoreal  Infallible Pro Glow/ Bare Minerals Original – I’ve been using this foundation pretty much since it came out, and I love it.  It’s lightweight, the color matches me perfectly, and I love the glow finish it gives.  I had to also mention Bare Minerals, because when I think ride or die, I think of that.  That is my in-a hurry-but still want to look put together foundation.  Just tap your brush in there, swirl onto your face and done.  Love it.

ConcealerNARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I have pretty bad undereye circles, and this is one of the only concealers that actually covers them.  It’s not thick, and it doesn’t crease.

Face PowderToo Faced Primed and Poreless – this powder really blurs the look of pores and makes my face look airbrushed.  My skin looks so good when I wear this. Also, the packaging!

Under Eye Setting Powder Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – I use this powder underneath my eyes everyday to set that NARS concealer.  It really keeps it from not creasing, and it stays under there ALL DAY.

BlushBenefit Hervana – this baby pink blush is everything to me.  I’ve hit major pan, and it’s because I use this everyday.  I have to constantly remind myself to use other blushes.  I always go back to this one.  Gives a perfect natural pink flush with a little bit of sheen.  Gorgeous.

BronzerBenefit Hoola – it’s really hard to find a bronzer that is light enough for my fair skin and not orange.  This one fits the bill.  It’s matte, so I can use it to contour or just subtly bronze my whole face.  It’s buildable and it blends out nicely.

HighlightLaura Geller Gilded Honey – this highlighter is beautiful.  It’s a caramel-y gold color with the prettiest sheen.  No chunky glitter, just sheen.  Looks so good on the tops of the cheekbones , and even better if you wet your brush a bit.

MascaraMaybelline Lash Sensational – Maybelline makes the best mascaras in my opinion.  I love The Rocket Volum Express, but I think I love this one just a teeny bit more.  It reminds me a lot of the Benefit Rollerlash (except a lot cheaper)!  It keeps my lashes curled, gives volume and a ton of length.

LipstickMAC See Sheer – this is the very first MAC lipstick shade that I bought, and I love it.  It is the perfect coral red-but sheer, moisturizing, and flattering for my skintone.  Love it.

Liquid LipColourpop Clueless – this is a mauve-rose color that is a really nice MLBB shade.  This liquid lipstick stays put all day, and I feels so light on the lips.

GlossDior Lip Maximizer – this gloss subtly plumps lips while being non-sticky.  It smells good and has pretty good lasting power for a gloss.

LashesRed Cherry #213 Harley – these are natural (but better) lashes.  Most lashes are just too darn long on me, but these are perfect.  They are full, but aren’t too fakey looking.

Eyeshadow PaletteToo Faced Chocolate Bon Bons – this was a tough one, but I just picked the one I always reach for- and its this one!  Who could resist heart shaped shadows?

Setting SprayUrban Decay Chill –  I love the cooling finish this spray gives, and it feels nice and hydrating on my skin too.

PerfumeElizabeth and James Nirvana White EDP – I love the floral but musky scent of this perfume.  It is light and perfect for any occasion.

So, those are my ride or die products.  I can’t live without these!

I tag YOU to do this on your blog!

Transition to Fall OOTD | Budget Friendly

Here in Texas, we don’t get much “fall” weather, maybe about two weeks before it just gets cold.  So, since it’s still in the 90’s and almost September, I felt like I should trade in my sundresses and rompers for some of my more “fall looking” dresses.  Still wearing sandals though, cause it’s still hot!

This dress is sleeveless with a slight hi-low hem in the back from Old Navy.  It’s super flowy and comfortable- perfect for just throwing on and going pretty much anywhere!  It has a v-neck which I usually don’t like, but it’s not too low cut.  The print, even though it’s floral, is on a black background, so yeah, FALL-ish.

I picked out these Baublebar triangle ear crawlers and a dainty gold necklace from Gorjana.  I actually gave my daughter a smaller version of this necklace when she started Kinder last week- it’s from their Mini+Me Collection).  I always have to have these ZeroUv shades on, I love them and I have them in 3 different colors! ($10)!

Of course, I have to have my arm candy, and I just got this Kendra Scott bracelet for my birthday from my bestie April.  LURVE it.  I also wore this multi-colored Brandi Melville bracelet that I wear with everything!

These black sandals from the Christian Siriano Collection for Payless are so comfortable, so cute, and they go with everything!

Hope you guys liked this outfit!  More fall outfits to come!

Budgeproof Lips | How To Keep Lip Color On ALL DAY

I know glossy lips are on trend right now, but I am still on the liquid lip train!  Who else is with me?  I just love the look of matte lips, and the fact that liquid lipsticks stay on so long!  I have a few tips to share to keep them lookin good LONGER!

1. EXFOLIATE

You can use a fancy lip scrub, or you can just go in the kitchen and mix up some sugar and coconut oil and scrub your lips.  This gets rid of any dead skin and flakiness, and preps your lips for some color!

2. LINE FIRST

Lining my lips and then filling them in with lipliner helps my liquid lipstick apply SO EVENLY!  It also helps with the liquid lipstick wearing off, because you’ve still got color under there!  And don’t worry about matching the lipliner exactly!  A nude shade is a nude shade.

3.  USE A LONG WEARING LIPSTICK

I wiped all the product off of the applicators, and then swatched.  STILL OPAQUE, and not gloopy.

Liquid lipsticks are made to last on the lips for a long time, but you don’t need a lot of product at all!  A lot of people don’t like liquid lips because they are using way too much product.  Wipe off the applicator, and apply a very tiny amount of color.  Since its liquid, it’s a more pigmented version of lipstick, and you don’t need a lot.  With the lipliner underneath, it should be easy to blend out a small amount.  It should feel like there is nothing on your lips.

4. DON’T APPLY GLOSS

Adding a gloss overtop compromises wear time.  It breaks down the lipstick, and although it looks pretty, don’t apply it if you need your lipcolor to last.

5.BLOT, THEN REAPPLY.

Liquid lipsticks are buildable, but only if you use a small amount.  After I apply the first thin coat, I let it almost dry, and then I blot.  I make sure it is completely dry, and I take a little bit more and go over again.

Your lipcolor will not budge!

Hope these tips helped you fellow liquid lip lovers!

New Fall Bag (Under $30!) | What’s In My Purse

My birthday was a few weeks ago, and one of the gifts from my parents was a new bag!  Everyone who knows me knows that bags are definitely my thing, and I love them!  I also really love World Market, and that’s where this adorable bag is from.  They have the cutest bags, accessories, and jewelry!

So the name of this bag is the Blue Carpet Woven Bucket Bag.  I love the look of this bag.  It’s bohemian, it has fringe, it’s crossbody… I just love everything about it!  My mom also got me the matching little cosmetic pouch, which is so cute and holds a lot!

So this bag is slouchy and made from a woven fabric.  It has a long crossbody strap and two drawstrings on the side that you can cinch in for a more bucket look.  I like to cinch them in and tie them into bows.

Inside the bag, there is a zip pocket on one side that I like to use for my wallet, and then two little pockets on the opposite side that I like to use for my phone and sunglasses, so I can get to those easily.  The bag has a little button snap closure.

Want to see what’s inside?!  I LOVE seeing what is in other people’s bags.  I’m nosy like that.  Do you guys like it too?

So, with an unstructured bag like this, I HAVE to use pouches.  It’s the only way I’ll ever find anything!  I keep a ton of stuff in the matching pouch.

See, told you it holds a lot!

  • Marc Jacobs Key Holder– I like this because they keys won’t scratch anything!  It holds 6 keys.  (I couldn’t find the exact one I have, so I linked a similar one)
  • Little printed canvas pouch for cards I don’t use as often, like Ulta, Sephora, insurance cards, etc. (I think the pouch was from Whole Foods- it was a gift)
  • Louis Vuitton Key Pouch – I use this pouch for my cards I use a lot (debit, credit), drivers license, and cash.  (monogram multicolor was d/c last year, but I linked a diff color)

  • I also like to keep this little black pouch in my bag with a couple of small coloring/word search books and some crayons in it for the girls.  This comes in so handy at restaurants!
  • Pull-Ups for my potty training girl.
  • Uber Mom Wipes Case – love this little hard plastic case for wipes!
  • ZeroUv sunglasses

That’s it for my bag!  What are your must have products in your bag?

EAT | Back To School – Fun and Easy Lunch Ideas!

My little bear Allie is starting kindergarten in just a few days, and I am on a mission to make her the best lunches ever!  Who wants a boring sandwich every day?  Not me!  Even if you aren’t a mom, you can use these ideas too.  These are for everyone!

I don’t like to use baggies or anything that has to be thrown away, so I like to use reusable lunch containers.

YumBox – this container is hard plastic with a removable, dishwasher safe tray inside.  The compartments are labeled with food groups, and you can have a wide variety of foods in here.

Easy Lunchboxes Containers – these containers are really sturdy, and also dishwasher safe.  There is one large compartment, one medium compartment, and one small compartment.  These come in a 4-pack.

In these containers, I like to use separate containers for smaller items in the large section:

Containers with lids  – these are just for things like yogurt or dips. These have airtight lids and they fit nicely in here without spilling on other foods.

Silicone molds– makes lunch colorful and fun, and keeps foods separate.  They are also really flexible so you can fit them anywhere.

Some other fun things I like to do:

Plastic Animal Toothpicks – I make mini fruit skewers, or meat and cheese rolls on these, and they are really fun to eat.

Cookie cutters – I use these just to make the sandwiches more fun and also to make them bite size to fit in smaller compartments.  These really make my kiddos happy when they have a sandwich in the shape of  a princess or flower or something like that.  I have a whole drawer just for my cookie cutters!

Here are some examples of lunches I’ve made:

Peanut butter and jelly “sushi” (just take a piece of bread, spread pb&J on it, roll it up and cut it into pieces),  hard boiled egg, blueberries on toothpicks, cheese nips, and apples with peanut butter to dip.

Ham and cheese skewers, crackers, hard boiled egg, and blueberries.

Ham and cheese star sandwich, cheese nips, granola bar and raisins, oranges, strawberries, and a few candy pez in the middle.

Cheese quesadilla with mild salsa for dipping, baby carrots, strawberries, and some trail mix.

I got some Colby jack cheese sticks, wrapped some turkey around them, and stuck a pretzel stick through to create totally edible little skewers!  I added cheese nips, blueberries, and some Frozen Graham cookies.

A castle shaped pb&j, some yogurt, cherry tomatoes, a granola bar, and a few tortilla chips.

“Lunchables” inspired – crackers, cut up ham, and pineapple shaped cheese slices (my kids love to assemble), some mixed nuts, applesauce, and a few blueberries.

Turkey and cheese sandwich on a Hawaiian roll, pistachios, baby carrots, blackberries, some pretzel letters, and an Oreo.

Tips:

  • My biggest tip for lunch making would be to do as much as you can the night before.  Most everything can be done the night before, with the exception of sandwiches.  I like to do this so I’m not rushed in the morning!  Just wait till the kids go to bed, and make the lunches with a glass of wine in hand!
  • Write your guy or gal a little note, and if they can’t read, just draw a little picture or something for them.  I know that my Allie really looks forward to reading her note everyday!

Hope you liked this post and it helped you to be more creative!
