Dry shampoo is one of my beauty staples. Hairstylists say that in order to have super healthy hair, you shouldn’t wash and heat style every day. To get through the no-wash days, dry shampoo is there for you! I have picked out 5 of my faves to share with you today!
I simply LOATHE the process of washing, drying, and curling my hair. It is so time consuming, and as a busy mom of 2, I ain’t got time for all of that! (And plus, I’d rather spend that time on makeup!) So, I normally wash my hair 2-3 times per week.
I like to wash my hair on Sunday, and I use a really nice clarifying shampoo to get all the residue out of my hair so it’s ready for the week. Sunday works for me because my husband is home and I can take my time drying and styling.
The next morning, I wake up and I usually don’t need dry shampoo. I don’t have oily hair, so the next day, my hair looks the same.
BUT, day 3 requires some help. Enter my BFF aka DRY SHAMPOO.
I shower in the morning, and what I like to do is take my dry shampoo, section off my hair, and spray the product underneath my hair on the roots. You want to hold the can about 3 inches away from your head, and just go to town. After I do this, I don’t brush through right away. I actually just gather up all of my hair, put it in a shower cap, and take my shower. During the shower, the dry shampoo has time to absorb any oil in your hair, leaving a dry finish. When I get out, I take my cap off and brush my hair. Voila! Perfectly refreshed hair.
Since I go through it rather fast, I prefer drugstore dry shampoo. My favorite one, hands down is the Garnier Volume Extend Dry Shampoo. This shampoo is under $5, has a pleasant scent (not too strong) and adds volume to my hair without leaving a residue. Another one just like it is the Loreal Longwear Dry Shampoo. This also has a nice scent, adds volume, takes away oily feel, and doesn’t leave a residue. The last one from the drugstore is Batiste Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo comes in a bunch of different scents (some good, some not) and this one leaves a little grit in your hair. I like to use this one when my hair is really limp and lifeless (think day 4). If you get a scent you like, you’ll like this. The scents are strong, so get one you like.
Ok, so there are two kinds I like that are a bit more pricey. Do I think you need to spend a lot on dry shampoo? No. The drugstore ones do a great job. But, I like to splurge sometimes…and my favorite one is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo is perfect. It smells amazing, but not too strong, and gives a ton of volume. I LOVE this one. The other one that I love is the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo. I love the formula of this dry shampoo. It adds a lot of texture and volume to the hair. The only thing about this one is the scent- you either love it or you hate it. The scent is soo overpowering, and I am usually never bothered by scents. It smells kind of like REALLY strong baby powder, but the smell doesn’t go away. I can smell it all day when I use this. This dry shampoo is so good though, I am willing to overlook the smell even though I hate it! That means it’s good.
Do you use dry shampoo? What’s your favorite one?
