Sparkly Eyes

Hello!  On the rare occasion when I get a few extra minutes for my makeup, I like to really play up my eyes.  My favorite “going out/special occasion” eye look is to use a super metallic shadow- almost giving a liquid metal look to my lids.  Here’s how I do it!

First off, I start with an eyeshadow primer.  You can use any primer you like; even concealer works.  My favorites are the NARS Eyeshadow Base, Too Faced Shadow InsuranceELF Glitter Primer and MAC’s Painterly Paint Pot.  You just want a nice even base on your lids to help the shadows blend out evenly, and also help them to last.

I like to start off with a base color on my lids, and up through my crease.  I usually use a medium toned matte brown color like MAC’s Wedge.

I then like to take another deeper matte color, and work it into my crease-darkening it up as I like depending on how dark I want the look to be.  I don’t ever like to use shimmer in my crease, I always get fallout when I do that- so I stick with matte or satin finishes.  MAC Espresso is a good one.

Ok, now for the fun part.  I take a flat shader brush like these, spray it with a little Fix + or Primer Water (regular water works too-you just want it to be wet) and dip it into my shadow.

I then just pack the color onto my lid, blending slightly as I go.  I don’t ever like to use a brush that is fluffy for this step cause FALLOUT.  I just continue packing the color onto the lid until it’s where I want it.  Here are some of my favorite colors to use for this step:

Burberry Wet/Dry Glow Shadow in Nude No. 002

NYX Prismatic Shadow in Punk Heart

NARS Dual Intensity Shadow in Himalia

Urban Decay Moondust Shadow in Solstice

L’Oréal Infallible Shadow in Amber Rush

NYX Prismatic Shadow in Girl Talk

After I am done packing the shadow on the lid- I always take a bit of the shadow on a pointed or flat top brush and drag it underneath my lashline.  This helps to bring the look together and define the eyes.

I also like to take a shade like Girl Talk and put some in the inner corners of my eyes.  It really brightens it up.

Do you like these shadows?

xx Amy
