Empties + 2017 NO BUY

Hello, and welcome to my first post of 2017!  Today I want to share a few empties with you, and tell you about one of my New Years resolutions!

I will not be buying any makeup for the entire year of 2017.  No more trips to ULTA or Sephora.  That’s right, not even an ELF lippie from Wal-Mart will make it into my lip drawer.

I have decided to no longer hoard makeup, and well, use up what I have.  We can all agree that it is a great feeling to actually use up a foundation, concealer, etc., right?  So that is what I will do!  Don’t worry, I won’t run out!  I’ve got drawers upon drawers full of makeup, and I want to see what all I can use up.

Who needs this many highlighters?  I only have one face!

Or lip products?  And the 20 in my purse aren’t even pictured!

I think it’s a good resolution; I’ll be saving money, and is it really a good thing to be VIB Rouge?  Not when you have as much makeup as I do.  Sometimes I actually feel overwhelmed at the amount I have, and think it’s a waste to not use all of it.  I’m actually not even limiting this no-buy to just makeup, it’s all beauty products in general.  How many dry shampoos and moisturizers/masks do I need?  I’m going to use them all up before I buy new ones.

Anyway, that’s my plan.  I need some words of encouragement here…I saw the new NARS primers that came out at Nordstrom

Ok, onto the empties!

I used up two hair care products – first is the Lush Sea Spray – this is a volumizing spray with sea salt that gives a really texturized, beachy look.  I love the grapefruit smell of this, too.  Definitely a repurchase.

Another hair care product I used up is this L’Oréal Longwear Dry Shampoo.  This is one of my favorite dry shampoos out there- it absorbs oil, and doesn’t have a strong scent to it.  It makes my hair feel clean. I would repurchase this also.  (While trying to link this product, it appears it has been discontinued (bummer)!  Here are some other options if you’re looking for a good one.

The next thing I used up was my favorite self tanner, Fake Bake Flawless.  This spray is super easy to use, and it never makes me orange or streaky.  Full review on that here if you’re interested.  I’ve already repurchased this.

Next is a brush that I have parted with.  This Bare Minerals Flawless Face brush is pushing 8 years old, and it was time to trade up.  This is a good brush, but after time it has gotten rough and scratchy.  It does apply the original foundation very nicely.  Instead, I purchased the Bare Minerals Precision Face Brush, which is fairly new.  This one is much softer, and does a great job at applying the foundation.

I recently used up this Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 HR Full Coverage Foundation. I’ve had this for awhile, and it is a great foundation, just a little bit too full coverage for me.  I had to sheer this out quite a bit, (damp beauty blender, adding oil to it, etc.) but it really does last long and give a flawless finish to the skin.  I would definitely repurchase this if I needed a full coverage foundation.

I’ve used up two mascaras, the Tarte Maneater was just featured in my 2016 Best Of Beauty, and for good reason!  It lengthens, volumizes, and holds the curl all day long.  I have already repurchased.  The next mascara is the Touch in Sol Stretchex Mascara.  This mascara didn’t do anything except weigh down my lashes, it didn’t do anything for length or volume.  It appears as though Sephora may be discontinuing the brand, also.  Won’t repurchase.

Lastly, a lipliner that I’ve loved for years, the Jordana Easyliner for Lips in Tawny.  This is the perfect pinky brown liner that goes with everything, and it’s only $3!  Definite repurchase!

That’s it for my empties!

Thanks for reading xx
