Five Fashion Faves For Friday

How about that alliteration?   🙂

There are so many cute fashion trends out right now for the summer, and I’m sharing five of my favorites today!  Most of these are accessories 🙂

I have been loving layering my necklaces.  So pretty and sparkly.

I prefer to wear gold over silver, so I just stack a bunch of my favorite gold necklaces up,  and I just think it looks so cute and really dresses up an outfit.  Since there is so much going on with the necklaces, I’ve been keeping my earrings simple with just small studs.

It is so hot in the summer, and underwire + padding just is not happening.  I like to wear these stretchy lace bralettes.

They are so comfortable, and they look especially cute underneath open back tops or shirts that have very large armholes.  They don’t have any underwire, so I can wear them all day and still be comfy.  They also sell the matching undies too, and I have washed both in the washing machine and they don’t fall apart or anything.  They’re good quality and super inexpensive!

Aviator sunglasses are always a summer staple for me.

See below.  Lol.  New insta filters.

I got these on Amazon from ZeroUV. $10!

I think they just make any outfit look really cool, and give off a chill, summery vibe.  You don’t have to pay a lot for them, and I have a bunch of these in all colors and styles.  I even have American flag ones and heart shaped ones!

If you know me, you know that bags are my thing.  I am a very indecisive bag person, sometimes I like to carry big bags like my LV Neverfulls, and then sometimes I like teeny tiny bags that I can barely fit anything into.

I am into the teeny bags right now.  All I really need to carry day to day are cards, keys, my phone, and some lipstick- so why not just use a small crossbody bag?! It’s so easy, especially with kids so that I can be hands free.

A few of my fave teeny bags at the moment.

Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

Louis Vuitton Pochette Felicie (not on the website yet in Rose Ballerine)

Topshop Rosie Studded Crossbody

I am still loving cold shoulder tops and dresses, especially this dress.

It’s just a basic t-shirt dress, but the cold shoulder detail really makes it special!  I could wear this on a night out and be so comfy!  All it needs is some jewelry and it’s perfect!  Similar dress here.

What fashion finds are you loving lately?

Travel Makeup Essentials

It’s the time of year for beach trips and vacations, do you guys have any trips planned?  Whenever I pack for a trip, I try to take as little as possible when it comes to makeup, and select products that are quick and easy to use.

Here’s what I like to pack in my travel bags.

I use this bigger, sequined bag for makeup, and this little pencil case type bag for brushes and tools.

I like to take a stick foundation, because I don’t have to worry about it spilling or breaking.  This ELF Moisturizing Foundation Stick is the best!  It gives nice coverage and a natural finish.  I bring my Sephora Collection Concealer for my undereyes, and my favorite Laura Mercier setting powder.

I love to take this Instant Look in a Palette from Charlotte Tilbury.  This has bronzer, highlight, two blush colors, and three eyeshadows.  All of the colors work on me, and they are really nice quality and pigmented.  I bring an extra eyeshadow with my like NYX Bedroom Eyes if I want to deepen up the look or add more shimmer.  For my eyebrows, I take my Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil.

I like to have a few options when it comes to eye liners- you can really change your look with the color of an eyeliner pencil, so here I have a glittery brown pencil called Bourbon by UD.  I also have an Estee Edit double pencil with black on one side and shimmery gray on the other (best eyeliner I’ve ever used- so creamy).  I also like to take a black liquid liner- this is Blacquer by Marc Jacobs.  I think I’m covered for eyeliner.   The mascara I’m using currently is this YSL Babydoll, and then I’m bringing this gold glitter mascara topper by Butter London, because I love this and it adds a little bit of sparkle.   Lastly for eyes, I’m bringing my favorite Red Cherry lashes and House of Lashes glue.  You never know when you’ll need some lashes.

In my little pencil bag, I pack a few brushes and tools.

For face, I pack my Beauty Blender and Beauty Blender Mini for foundation and concealer.  I pack my Real Techniques Blush brush for bronzer/contour, and my Morphe M435 Angled Brush for blush.  Also my Real Techniques Setting Brush to set my undereye powder.  I also take the Sigma E40 to use for highlighter.

I’m only taking two eye brushes, Sigma E25 and Sigma E30.  Both are really nice blending brushes.  I also bring my Shiseido Eyelash Curler and a pair of Tweezers

That’s it for my travel makeup!  Stay tuned next week for my Travel Beauty Essentials (skincare, haircare, etc.)!

Hot Pink Nails

Ooooh a summery hot pink nail is what I’m all about right now.  So girly and feminine, and perfect for a pool party!
Boom Boom Room, The Girls Are Out, Mod Square

For a paler (but still neon) pink, Essie Boom Boom Room is so perfect.

For a pinky purple vibe with a teeny bit of shimmer, here’s Essie The Girls Are Out.  For a true hot fuchsia pink (and toe polish staple for me) Essie Mod Square.  I think this is my 3rd bottle of this color!

Like Boom Boom Room, Nails Inc Brompton Place is a paler, but neon creamy pink, like bubblegum!  LOVE this shade.  Similar, but a bit darker is L’Oréal Pink Me Up.

We then have a pink glittery polish from Julep called Kendall, and this one is so sparkly, iridescent, and beautiful (wearing this one right now).

Lastly, and maybe my favorite of them all, is CND Pink Bikini.  I mean, look at it!  It’s like a watermelon pink.

Do you like pink nail polish?

How To Style : Cropped Jumpsuit | 3 Ways

I was recently at TJ Maxx, and I spotted this jumpsuit.  At first I thought it was a maxi dress, and when I saw it had legs, I immediately wanted to put it back.  Jumpsuits are usually hard for me to wear because I am so short, and they are always too long.  This one is actually cropped, so I figured I would try it on.

There is a lot going on here with this jumpsuit.  It is kind of a bold print, it’s got the cold shoulders and ruffled chest, AND it’s cropped.

I thought I’d give it a go.

I love the cold shoulders and also how it cinches in at the waist.  It’s really comfortable.

For the first outfit, I wanted to see if I could dress it up.

I paired it with some tan and gold colored slingback heels with a matching clutch.

For jewelry, I put on some big gold hoops and layered a few necklaces.

For the second outfit, I wanted to go super casual.

I threw on my ‘ol jeweled flip flops, trusty hat, and added a pink purse for a pop of color.

For jewelry, I kept it simple with some black studs and my name necklace.

For the last outfit, I added a denim jacket and some gold wedge sandals.

I accessorized with a denim bag and some gold and pink earrings.

I love this jumpsuit,  and think that it is so versatile!  It really can be dressed up or down.

EAT | Rainbow Cake + 500th BLOG POST!

Hello!!! Today’s post is very special, it’s my 500th post here on AmysBeautyDiary!  Hooray!  I seriously can’t believe I’ve had 500 things to talk about!

Thank you to everyone who reads, it really means a lot to me!  I just love working on new posts and hearing the feedback from you all.

Let’s have some cake to celebrate!  We are making my daughters’ favorite “rainbow cake” today with my special buttercream frosting.  I’m using boxed cake mix to save time, but I will show you how to make the rainbow effect.

What you need:

  • One box white cake mix

Buttercream Icing

  • 2 sticks butter, softened to room temperature
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Follow the directions on the cake mix, and then divide the mix evenly into six separate bowls.

Dye each bowl a color of the rainbow.  Instead of red, we like to do pink.

Starting with pink (or red) pour half of the batter into one cake pan.  Don’t forget to grease your pan!

Just start adding the other colors in rainbow order (ROYGBIV, lol) and don’t stir or touch them, just layer them on top of eachother.

After you’ve done that, you’re going to reverse the order (purple first) and pour the remaining batter into the second cake pan.

Here are both pans finished.

Bake the cakes at 350 degrees for 25-30 min, or until browned.

Let these cool completely.

Now we are going to make our icing.

Put softened butter, vanilla, and milk into a bowl, and beat with mixer.

Add half of the powdered sugar, and beat beat beat.  The longer you beat, the better it comes out, and you want to get all of the yellow color out.

Add the remaining powdered sugar, and continue to beat until you get the desired consistency.  You don’t want it to be runny.

Perfect.  Now you can add your food coloring, or just leave it white.

We did light pink, and decorated it with purple flowers.

I like to refrigerate the cake for awhile, and then serve.  Everyone will be amazed when you cut it open!

Thanks so much for reading!

Here’s to the next 500 🙂
