Rustic Farmhouse Decor | Fireplace / Gallery Wall

Hello!  A while ago, I posted a kitchen home decor post, and got a lot of positive feedback, so I decided to do another.  Today I am sharing my decor in the living room.

Our living room is pretty much the main part of our house.  It is a very large room, and it’s where we spend most of our time.

We have this giant tv cabinet that takes up almost a whole wall that my dad built for us.  I asked him to whitewash it (which I am obsessed with) and he built it perfectly and exactly how I wanted.

So, the first thing I did was to find a rug for the living room that I liked.  I knew I wanted it to be tan, white, gray…(no bright colors) so that it would go with everything.

This is what I chose, and I think it fits in perfectly.  It is very large – 8×10 ft, so it fits under our couch. It is very soft and I think the print is perfect.

After looking at pictures online and some inspiration from my friends (Kristina!) I decided to do a gallery wall above my couch.  I know that the key to doing a gallery wall is to have things that are all different shapes and sizes, and not to make it look perfect.  This is what I came up with.

So, the main piece here is this giant map.  The frame is a rustic gray wood, and the map looks kind of old and worn.  My husband and 6 year old really liked this, so we used this as our main piece.

On the left side, I found a pair of white antlers with some flower detail on them.

These are really a nice piece because they look kind of country, but the flowers make them pretty, too.  I love how the unique shape looks on the wall.  Underneath those, I found this photo frame that is a rustic wood color with room for an 8×10 picture.

I decided to use a picture that we took in St. Lucia on our honeymoon of the Pitons.  This photo adds some color, but is still neutral.  I like how it looks like the picture is floating in this frame.

On the other side, I knew I wanted a shelf to put little things on.

I found this small white shelf and added some little faux succulents, and a silver metal N that has a pretty lace like look to it.

Below that, I found this set of 3 gold circle shaped mirrors.  I love how these added a different shape to the wall, and I feel like they give a bit of modern/industrial feel.

I am so pleased at how this turned out, and it really adds interest to the room.

The fireplace is the first thing that you see when you enter the front door, so I really wanted to spruce it up.

On the top, I have a neutral colored floral canvas print, and a few birdcage looking lanterns.  I love these, and they are both a distressed white color.  I also have a candle and some little faux flowers.

On the bottom, I have a little basket with a blanket and a pillow that reads “let’s stay home”.  I think it gives a nice cozy feel to the fireplace.  Lastly, I have a big galvanized metal lantern that I just put a big candle in.

That’s it for my living room!  I love all of the neutrals and think it looks so cozy.

I hope I helped you find some inspiration for your home!

xx amy
