BEST Drugstore Beauty Buys

Hello friends!  I am back with a beauty post for you today!  I have rounded up all of my favorite drugstore beauty products.  These products are the best of the best, and things that’s I have repurchased over and over.

Let’s start off with skincare…and teeth.

First off  is this Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion.  This is my all time favorite body lotion to use because it is pretty much unscented, and it leaves my legs so SHINY.  I don’t like scented body lotion at all, and this one doesn’t leave a strong scent.  It also isn’t oily or anything, but it makes my legs look shiny and smooth.

Another lotion is the Aveeno Skin Relief Overnight Cream.  This is a thick cream that I use to apply to my feet and hands at night before I go to sleep.  I have dry skin on my feet, probably because I never wear shoes, or from years of wearing heels.  Probably both.  This lotion really makes my feet and hands soft and moisturized without leaving a super greasy feel.  It is also unscented.

I like to use micellar water to remove my makeup, and this Garnier one is my favorite!  It removes all of my makeup, and if you don’t wash your face after, it’s ok!  It cleanses your face without water.

An old favorite of mine is this Freeman Lemon and Mint Clay Mask.  This is a purifying mask that clears out my pores and gives my skin such a fresh feeling.  I’m pretty sure I have been using this since high school!  Love it!

Lastly is the toothpaste my husband and I swear by- Arm and Hammer Extreme Whitening with Baking Soda and Peroxide.  This toothpaste cleans my teeth so well, and gets so foamy.  It really takes away any coffee or tea stains from my teeth, and I like how it isn’t as sweet as a normal mint toothpaste.

Next, some haircare favorites.  First is this Organix Eucalyptus and Mint Shampoo.  This shampoo has tea tree oil in it and it very minty and gives that invigorating tingly feeling.  My hair feels so clean after I use this, and I LOVE the smell.

For conditioner, you can’t go wrong with the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle.  It smells so good like coconut, and it leaves my hair silky and soft.  I use this on my girls’ hair also.

The It’s A Ten Miracle Leave In Product Plus Keratin IS actually a Miracle in a bottle.  I use this on my girls hair (and my hair) after I wash it.  It gets all of the tangles out, protects the hair from heat, smells amazing, and strengthens the hair.

I couldn’t mention drugstore faves without mentioning the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.  I use this dampened everyday to apply my makeup, and it gives a flawless finish.  I use the flat edge to pounce in my foundation, and the pointed tip to blend in my under eye concealer.

Lastly, Seche Vite Topcoat for my nails.  This topcoat dries super fast, and leaves nails shiny and perfect.  The smell is very strong, but I just work quickly with it.

These products do not disappoint!  What are your favorite products from the drugstore?

EAT | Cinnamon Donuts

Hello!  Today I have a very special treat for you!  We are making up a batch of cinnamon donuts.  These are warm and delicious, and will smell up your house with the nutmeg and cinnamon.  You will need a special donut pan for this recipe, I am using this gold Threshold donut pan from Target.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For topping:

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • cinnamon sugar for dipping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.

In a smaller bowl, combine your egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.

Slowly pour your wet mixture into your flour mixture and combine until batter is smooth.

Grease your donut pan well, and spoon mixture into the cavities.

Bake at 350 degrees for 17-18 minutes, or until the tops are firm to the touch.

The smell of these baking is amazing.
Let them cool for about 5 minutes.  This makes them easier to remove from the pan.

Dip donuts into melted butter, and then into cinnamon sugar.

This recipe makes about 18 donuts.

Enjoy!  These are definitely a crowd pleaser. 🙂

EAT | J.J.’s Special Grilled Chicken

Hello!  Today I have a delicious recipe to share with you all.  My husband J.J. really loves to grill, and is really good at it.  He usually grills out every Sunday, and even sometimes during the week.   In addition to burgers, sausage, kabobs, and things like that, he likes to grill chicken.

Grilled chicken can go with pretty much anything – a baked potato, macaroni and cheese, etc., but we really like it on a salad and even leftover.  We always make our grilled chicken the same way- JJ’s special way!  I guarantee that you will LOVE this chicken.

What you’ll neeed:

  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Cut all of the fat off of your chicken breasts and place into a large bowl.

In a small bowl, mix all of your dry seasonings together.  He’s got a little helper.

Add your olive oil and mix together.

Pour the mixture onto the chicken and stir together until all of the chicken is coated.

Cover with plastic wrap and let marinade for a few hours- you can even let this marinade overnight!

Set the grill to 350 degrees, and throw it on!

Cook for 8-10 minutes on each side.

All done!  Look at those grill marks 🙂

So juicy and delicious!

Hope you try out this recipe!

3 Fall Crafts For Kids

I love to do crafts with my kids.  They really enjoy doing them, and are always proud of what they make.  My girls Allie and Ashley are 6 and 3, so it’s usually pretty easy to come up with crafts that they both like.  Today I’m going to be showing you three fall themed ones that we have done recently that I think any little kid would love to make.

Handprint Pilgrim Turkey

The first one we made are these super cute pilgrim turkeys.

What you need:

  • White construction paper
  • Paint (brown, green, red, orange, yellow)
  • Googly eyes
  • Markers (brown, black, red)

I made a little palette with all of the colors we needed, and placed a different paintbrush in each one.

The first things you’re going to do is paint your child’s hand.  I had to do my three years olds for her, but my six year old could do hers.  You have to work quickly so that the paint doesn’t dry; that’s why I used a different paintbrush for each color.

You really want to pack the paint on each finger to get a nice result.  I painted the palm and thumb brown to make the turkey’s body, and then the other fingers a different color.

After they are all painted, place them down on a piece of white construction paper.

You may have to touch up the colors a bit with a paintbrush.  Let this completely dry.

Add a little pilgrim hat, beak, googly eye and legs.  And don’t forget to draw lines on the fingers to make them look like feathers!

The girls both liked this craft the most out of all three!

Fall Tree
The next one is a fall tree, made with paint and cotton swabs.

What you need:

  • Fall colored paint (we used red, orange, green, brown, yellow)
  • Cotton swabs
  • White construction paper
  • Brown map pencils/markers

I like to pour the paint onto paper plates and make them up a little palette so that they don’t dip the swabs directly into the paint bottles.  I placed a cotton swab in each color.

The next part is to draw your tree.  We took up the whole page and added a few branches at the top.

Now for the fun part- just let them go to town making dots all over the top forming a tree.  The key is to overlap the dots to make it look more realistic.

Color the tree stump brown, and add a few leaves to the bottom of the page.

I think this would so cute to give to grandparents or someone on Thanksgiving!  My girls both really enjoyed making these.

Turkey Puppet

The last one we made is a turkey puppet made from a paper bag with handprints as feathers.

What you’ll need:

  • Paper bag
  • Construction paper (red, orange, yellow, green)
  • Googly eyes
  • Pencil, scissors, glue

First, have your kids trace their handprint on each color of construction paper, and then cut them out.

Next, draw and cut out a triangle on the yellow paper, and then a red squiggle and cut that out.  This makes the beak part of the turkey.

Glue the feathers to the back of the bag (the side without the flap)

Turn the bag over, and glue on the eyes and beak.

That’s it!  You have a fun turkey puppet.

We really enjoyed making these and we hope you like them too!  Let us know what your favorite one is 🙂

October FAVORITES

Hello!  It is the end of October, and I’ve got a few new favorites to share with you.  I’ve been loving everything from primer to coffee creamer!  Let’s get started.

Beauty faves.

First off, my nails.  You may remember my review on this nail color a while back – but I am still loving this it!  This is Essie Ballet Slippers and I haven’t been wearing anything else lately.  It is a sheer, natural looking (but put together and chic) nail color that is so pretty.  Review and pics here.

Next, something I also did a review on, the L’Oréal Lash Paradise Mascara.  Aside from the gorg packaging, this mascara is also really good.  It gives super volume and length, doesn’t flake, and it holds my curl all day.  Check out my review here.

Last for beauty, the Too Faced HangoveRX Replenishing Face Primer.  I really like to use this in the fall/winter months when it’s a little bit cooler (I live in Texas- so it’s not that cool) and the air is drier.  This has coconut water in it and is so hydrating.  It also smells sooo good.  It just gives me an extra layer of hydration aside from my moisturizer.  Love it.

It’s a Ten makes some of the best hair products, so when I saw this, I had to give it a go.  This is the It’s a Ten Miracle Blowdry Volumizer.  Like all of the It’s A Ten products, it does ten different things for your hair- protects from heat, adds volume, decreases blow dry time, etc., and this one really helps with the volume.  I apply this into my roots while my hair is damp and then blowdry like normal.  It gives me some volume, texture, and it smells great too!

Lastly, the Paula’s Choice Resist Triple Action Dark Spot Eraser.  I am a freckleface,  so I am used to having a lot of spots, but I have a few sun spots underneath my eyes that I wanted to lighten up.  I chose this product because it has hydroquinone; a skin bleaching agent.  This cream also has glycolic acid, which exfoliates.  So, over time, it will lighten the spots, and I have noticed they do look lighter since I’ve been using it.  I apply it every night before bed, and I  also haven’t noticed any peeling or dryness, so I really like it so far.

I’ve got a few non beauty faves, too.

If you know me…you know I love cleaning and organizing…and also Mrs. Meyers products.  This is a line of natural cleaners that smell so great and do a good job of cleaning.

This is my favorite product, the Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner.  You can use this cleaner on ANYTHING, I use it on marble, granite, tile, wood, walls…it really is handy to have a product like this.  My favorite scent is Geranium, which is so fresh and floral, but I have recently been using the Apple Cider scent.  This scent is limited edition, and I had to stalk my Target to find it.  It smells so good and like a warm apple pie is baking in the oven.  What I like most about this stuff is that the smell lingers after you clean with it, and it makes the whole house smell good.

I’m not much of a Starbucks person, I prefer to make my coffee at home every morning, and I usually don’t like creamer in my coffee.  I pretty much make it black with a little sweetener in it…UNTIL I FOUND THIS.  I saw this at my local grocery store and I thought I’d try it.  It is the Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Coffee Creamer in Pumpkin Spice.  This is so good, and all you need is a little bit in your cup.  It adds a cinnamon spice flavor and is so good and cozy.  I love it.

That’s is for my favorites!  What have you been loving?
