January FAVES

Good morning! I can’t believe it’s already the end of January! I am excited to share some favorites with you today that I have been loving all month long.

Let’s start with makeup.

I bought this blush awhile ago, but I just recently pulled it out and started using it again. This is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush. This blush is beautiful. It is a rosy pink color mixed with a champagne colored highlight. It is so pretty on the cheeks and gives a glow without being shimmery.

Next was a Christmas present from my 3 year old daughter Ashley. My husband says she HAD to grab this Chanel lipstick and get it for me while they were Christmas shopping at Nordstrom. I have never owned a Chanel lipstick before, but, ASHLEY DID GOOD. He says she picked the color and everything. He had no say. This is the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in 93 Intime.

Literally THE PERFECT sheer moisturizing nude color. I’ve got a review for this coming up soon, so stay tuned 🙂

Next, a few nail faves. First, this OPI nail color in Put It In Neutral.

I’ve been loving this sheer, neutral pink color. Goes with everything, and looks so classy and chic.

Another nail fave is this cuticle oil pen I picked up at my local grocery store – but I found it on amazon HERE. This is the Bliss KISS Simply Pure Cuticle Nail Oil Pen. This is a twist up pen that dispenses cuticle oil! I use this in the car while I am waiting for my daughter in the parent pick up line, and it really has softened my cuticles and made my nails look so good! It feels so nourishing and doesn’t feel greasy.

Next, is a skincare item I have talked about a ton. This is one of my favorite deep pore cleansing masks, the Sephora Collection Purifying and Mattifying Mud Mask. I love to use this mask when my skin feels oily or I am breaking out. It clears the pores and makes my face feel super clean, but not dry.

Lastly is a haircare item, the Bumble and Bumble Repair Blow Dry Cream. I haven’t been curling my hair lately like I usually do, I’ve just been wearing it straight. I like to apply this cream before I blow dry it, and it smoothes my hair and helps a lot with frizz. It also protects against heat and makes my hair feel super soft.

That’s it for the faves! What have you been loving this month?

xx amy

A Day In My Life | Stay at Home Mom to 2 girls

Hello! I recently read a magazine article about an editor of a fashion magazine and how she spends her day, so I thought it would be fun to take you through my day today!

While my life isn’t as exciting (lol), I thought it would be something different for my blog and maybe you will find it interesting! I am a stay at home mom, so pretty much everything I do involves my sweet little girls! Let’s go 🙂

  • 5:30 a.m.

Wake up and work out – I did my stationery bike and enjoyed some time alone! I took this pic later because it is dark when I usually get up this early.

  • 6:00 a.m.

Shower and get ready for the day. Without any interruptions!

  • 6:30 a.m.

Wake up Allie and get her ready for school (put lunch and water in her backpack, make breakfast for her, do her hair)

  • 7:00 a.m.

Grab coffee, Mollie, and Allie and head out for school! Mollie loves to ride in her doggie booster!

  • 7:30 a.m.

Get back home, do morning chores until Ashley wakes up. (Make beds, load dishwasher, start laundry, wipe down counters, etc.)

  • 8:15 a.m.

Ashley’s awake and ready for breakfast. She’s having a waffle, scrambled eggs, and some little sprinkle frozen yogurt drops that I made the other day.

  • 8:45 a.m.

Get Ashley dressed and ready to go out!

  • 10:00-12:00 p.m.

Arrive at the Children’s Museum and play play play. We have a membership here and she LOVES it!

  • 12:30 p.m.

Head home and fix lunch, and then fold some laundry. The laundry is never ending!

  • 1:00 p.m.

Workbook and story time with Ashley. We love the story “The Baby Blue Cat and the Whole Batch of Cookies”.

  • 2:25 p.m.

Grab a snack for the car and head out to pick up Allie with Mollie and Ashley.

  • 3:15 p.m

Arrive back home with Allie and help her with her homework. She usually has a worksheet and reading. Tonight she had math and I had to give her a practice spelling test (which she got 100, like always!)

  • 3:45 p.m.

Playtime with my girls. Today they wanted to play blocks.

  • 4:30 p.m.

Start making dinner. Tonight it was chicken pomodoro.

  • 5:15 p.m.

Dinner ready for me and the girls, JJ will eat when he gets home! Clean kitchen, load dishes.

  • 6:00 p.m.

Bath time! The girls love these little Bubble Podz! They are natural and make a ton of bubbles.

  • 6:30 p.m.

JJ’s home, Daddy playtime!

  • 7:00 p.m.

Brush teeth, bedtime story, bedtime.

  • 7:30 p.m

Spend time with JJ, watch some T.V, work on blog posts, etc.

  • 9:30 p.m

Time for bed. Goodnight!

Hope you guys liked this day in my life and found it entertaining! 🙂

The Story Of Maggie

“When I needed a hand, I found your paw.”

Today I am sharing the story of our beloved pup Maggie that we recently lost on January 14, 2018.

On October 12, 2005, little Maggie was born. Maggie was a Maltese and only weighed a few pounds. JJ and I had been dating for two years, and he surprised me with her right around Christmas. He drove to Houston with a few of his friends to get her, and they named her Sha-nay-nay on the way home.

That night, after I got home from work, JJ called me to come over to his apartment. She was waiting for me, and I named her Maggie. She was SO CUTE.

I took her back to my apartment and we instantly became best friends.

Maggie was such a sweet pup. Over the years she was like my child, I dressed her up in clothes (which she actually really loved!), and took her everywhere I went!

Having Maggie taught me how to care and love for something so little. She prepared me to be the mother I am today.

A few apartments, our marriage, and our first house…Maggie was there for all of it. In 2009, we got Mollie, a Lhasa-Apso maltese mix. Maggie had a playmate.

Throughout the years, Maggie was the sweetest little dog. You could pull a treat out of her mouth without so much as a growl. She loved treats and also toys. People would say that they never saw a dog who liked toys more than she did. Also, the barking. Maggie loved to bark and did constantly!

In 2011, we had our first daughter, Allison. I remember Maggie would lay right next to her wherever she was, in the swing, in her baby bouncer…Maggie was always by her.

Soon after, we moved to Fort Worth, had a daughter Ashley in 2014, and soon moved back to south Texas. Maggie became the girls’ best friend. She was like our little night patrol, going room to room at night checking on the girls. She was a little protector.

Fast forward a few years, and we could tell Maggie was getting old. Last October, we noticed Maggie was feeling fragile. You could feel her backbone, and she seemed to be losing weight. On Christmas, she was so happy, she found a toy in her stocking and immediately ripped it up, just like she always did with toys.

After that day, she began going downhill fast. After a few visits to the vet, we were told that there was really nothing we could do for Maggie. She wasn’t eating or drinking, and could barely walk. She needed surgery, but her little heart wouldn’t make it.

My husband took her to the vet to be put down because she was suffering. She wouldn’t sleep, which was very unusual. She slept most of the day normally, and she wouldn’t close her eyes. I think that she knew if she did, she wouldn’t wake up. When I would look at her, she would turn her head and wouldn’t look at me. It was absolutely heartbreaking, and it was like it wasn’t even her.

That Sunday was probably the worst day of our lives. We had to explain to the girls what was happening, and they were both very upset. Even today, a week later, we are all still shocked and devastated. It’s not the same around here without Maggie. She was almost 13, and she had a great life with us, she really did, but it is still really hard to not have her anymore. We all miss her so much.

We buried Maggie towards the back of our property, and I bought this stone for her. In the spring, we will plant a tree for her.

Maggie was really loved, and we will never forget her. She will always be in our hearts.

RIP little Mags.

REVIEW | Bare Minerals BAREPRO Foundation – Everyday Makeup

I’ve been a lover of Bare Minerals Original Foundation FOR YEARS…in fact, I think I even wore it on my wedding day.

I tend to stick to lighter coverage foundations – I have freckles all over my face and neck/chest area, and when I use a high coverage foundation, it covers the freckles and looks really weird. It doesn’t match my neck or the rest of my skin, and it doesn’t look like me. I just don’t like it. This foundation just evens out my skin tone, provides a bit of coverage, and gives the natural skin look that I like.

Like I said, I’ve been using the Bare Minerals Original Foundation for around ten years now, and it’s always been my go-to. Whenever a liquid foundation breaks me out (which they always do), I go back to my trusty BM, and my skin clears up. It’s quick and easy to apply, the color matches me perfect…but there is one major drawback that I’ve overlooked all of this time because it’s such a great foundation. IT’S A LOOSE POWDER. It makes a huge mess every time I use it, my vanity is always covered in it, and it’s just very hard to travel with.

Ugh. Powder everywhere.

So, I’m almost done with my deluxe holiday container of it that I’ve had for around a year now, so I thought it was time to try this.

Bare Minerals BAREPRO Pressed Powder Foundation.

I picked this up in the shade 04 Aspen. There are 30 shades! The shades are different names from the original foundation, but this looked like the closest match. It comes in a nice magnetic closure compact and is very sleek. Perfect to throw in your bag. It has a big mirror and a little sponge applicator on the bottom of the compact.

I always apply my sunscreen and moisturizer before I put it on. I usually don’t use a primer, but sometimes I will apply some for extra hydration, like the Becca First Light Priming Filter. I use the Precision Face Brush to apply it, and it is so nice that the powder doesn’t fly everywhere. You barely need to swipe your brush in- no swirling or tapping required like the original version. Just swipe it in the powder, and buff into your skin. I do have to dip it into the powder a few times and continue buffing until my skin is covered. It is a quite hard powder, and it doesn’t get crumbly. There hasn’t even been any fallout in the compact. It’s perfect.

The finish is pretty much the same as the original; it leaves a nice satin finish that just looks natural and skin-like. Now, you can build this up. The more you buff in, and the more you get onto your brush, the more coverage you’ll get. It doesn’t ever come out cakey.

Here’s a before and after. As you can see, my freckles and spots are not covered, but my skin is pretty much evened out. Exactly how I like.

Overall, I LOVE this. I don’t think I’m ever going to go back to the Original Foundation when I can get the same look with this. The only drawback I can foresee is this compact not lasting as long as the Original. One container of the original lasts at least six months for me because you need so little of it. I’m willing to overlook that, because it is so messy!

Have you tried this? Do you like Bare Minerals Foundation?

Thanks for reading! xx

Little Haul Y’all

Hello! Today I have a little haul of beauty products I have recently accumulated. Some of these were gifts, and some I purchased myself!

Let’s start off with haircare.

I am a big fan of the Organix Haircare brand. I love the Eucalyptus Mint shampoo/conditioner, and also this Hydrating Teatree Mint shampoo/conditioner. It really hydrates my hair and tingles from the teatree and mint scents. I also saw this limited edition Candy Gumdrop scent, so I grabbed that as well. It smells so good.

I am also a fan of Amika hair products, especially their dry shampoo, but I’ve been wanting to try out this Nourishing Hair Mask. I love hair masks in a tub like this, and I like to use them once a week to deep condition my hair. This smells so good, so I’m excited to try it!

Lastly for hair is this Garnier Smooth Air Dry Anti-Frizz Cream. This is a cream to apply into damp hair to smooth the hair if you are air drying. I love to air dry my hair, but sometimes it gets poofy, so I’m hoping this will work well.

Now, the makeup.

My friend recommended this L’Oréal Magic BB Cream in the color correcting green shade to me, she said she loved it and it provides nice coverage. I don’t have a lot of redness on my face, but she said she applies it just like a moisturizer and skips foundation. Her skin always looks flawless, so I’m going to give it a shot.

Next is the Bare Minerals BAREPRO Pressed Powder Foundation. I actually have been wearing this the past few days and I LOVE it. I will be posting a review on it soon so stay tuned for that! I got the shade 04 ASPEN.

Next is my favorite mascara, the L’Oréal Lash Paradise. I got one of these in my stocking this year from my sweet husband. I featured this in my 2017 Best Of Beauty, and have raved about it here on the blog. It’s the best!

Another gift is this Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in 93 Intime. This was a Christmas gift from my darling little Ashley, who was Christmas shopping at Nordstrom with my husband, and told him that I had to have this. I have never owned a Chanel lipstick before, but I love that Ashley picked this, and it is a really pretty pink color that I like. She must know of my love for neutral lip colors! It is super shiny and moisturizing, too.

Lastly is another gift, a Buxom Lipgloss in the color Amanda. This was wrapped so cute like a little ornament, and the packaging on the lipgloss tube is gold leopard print. The color looks like crushed diamonds, it is a clear gloss with a color shifting glitter, but it’s not chunky at all, and it looks good with anything. Love it.

I had to grab another bottle of my favorite day time moisturizer, the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I love this for the daytime because it isn’t greasy, it doesn’t break me out, and it really hydrates my dry skin.

Since I loved the Unicorn Nails Inc Duo sooo much, I received this Nails Inc Hollergraphic Duo in my stocking! This duo has two colors, Rocket Fuel (silver holo glitter) and Ghetto Galactic (pinky purple polish with glitter). Both colors are shade shifters with holo glitter in them, and are AMAZING. I love Nails Inc polishes because of the thick brush, and these colors are so so good. Two coats to opaque, and surprisingly easy to remove!

Already tried both.

Ghetto Galactic

Rocket Fuel

Pictures don’t even do these justice.

That’s it for the haul! Just a few little things to try.

Let me know if you would like an in-depth review on anything here and I’ll be happy to do it!

Thanks for reading xx
