What’s In My Bag | Disney Park Day

Hello! We recently took a trip to Disney World, and I thought it would be fun and helpful to show you what to pack for a day at the parks! Usually park days are super long, so having a lot of items with you is crucial to making the most of your day. We were packing for a family of four; me, my husband, and our two girls, ages 10 and 7.

the girls running to the castle!

Here’s what we packed!

First off, my backpack. I chose to take this pink Jansport backpack with me because it is washable and I wouldn’t have to worry about it getting dirty or wet while on the rides. The straps are really comfortable to carry all day and it’s just easy with the two compartments. One big one in the back and a small one in the front that actually fits quite a lot.

The two things that took up the most room in the backpack were our rain ponchos and cooling towels.

If you aren’t familiar with Florida’s weather, you might not know that it rains a lot in the summer. Seeing as Disney’s tickets are non-refundable, you’re not going to let a little rain stop you from enjoying the park. Disney has these for purchase at the gift shops, but they’re much cheaper on Amazon. I have a two pack of children size and a two pack of adult size. Luckily, we did not have to use them, but didn’t want to take the chance!

Next are these cooling towels. These are a must if you go to Disney in the summer, you just wet them, wring them out, and then throw them around your neck. Instant coolness. They also do sell these in the gift shops too with cute mickeys all over them.

You gotta have the proper headwear! I packed all of us a cap just so our faces wouldn’t get sunburned, but we did wear our ears most of the time! I found these ears on Etsy because we wanted to have them before we went to the park. The girls even wore them in the airport 🙂

Sunscreen is a must! I have a cream face sunscreen here SPF 50 and then also a spray on with SPF 50. We all used these and reapplied often and did not end up sunburnt!

Also, you really want to have bandaids on hand, not only if someone were to get hurt but because BLISTERS! Luckily, we did not have to use these because we all wore comfy shoes and socks. Always good to have these in the bag though.

Medicine! I have to take Dramamine when I travel because I have extreme motion sickness. Planes, Ubers, the monorail, and the rides all make me feel ill, but Dramamine really does help me a lot. If I take one in the morning I’m good for the rest of the day. I also packed some Tylenol and threw some chewable Tylenol in this container for the girls. You never know if someone will get a headache and you don’t want it to ruin their day.

Sunglasses are a must if you can’t see in the sunlight (me!) and then also this little re-chargeable fan is awesome to have. I originally bought this for me to use while watching my girls tennis practices and matches, but it came in so handy at Disney for us!

Also, face masks – when we went to Disney face masks were not required, but we still wore them inside shops and monorail and Ubers. I know they are requiring masks now everywhere at Disney.

A couple more things – I packed a little wallet with my cash, license, credit card and our park passes. Also, some extra ponytails and a lip balm.

Disney does allow you to bring in food, so keep that in mind – you are able to bring in snacks and bottles of water, just not any ice chests. Packing water is a good idea so that you don’t have to buy it there.

So that is what we packed for Disney park days! It wasn’t too much and it’s so nice to bring a backpack so you’re hands free!

Quarterly Empties | Products I’ve Used Up

Hello! I’m doing this empties post a little bit early because, well, the empties are piling up! I didn’t do an empties last quarter, so I have a lot of mini reviews to share with you today!

Told you it was a lot!

First up, some haircare. I love this Clarifying Tea Tree Shampoo by Herbal Essences, it really cleans my hair and smells so good.

This Sephora Hair Primer was just okay for me. It is supposed to be a heat protectant that you use before blowdrying and I just wish it was a little more moisturizing, kind of like a leave in conditioner. It seemed to just dry my hair out, so I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

I used my Sephora points to get this Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo, and I can’t wait to get the full size! The smell of Amika products are so good, and this dry shampoo really makes my hair feel clean.

Of course it wouldn’t be an empties post without some L’Oréal Lash Paradise. This is my favorite mascara, and all I ever wear! It lengthens, holds a curl, is super black, and lasts all day! Love it.

This Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is another longtime fave of mine. It has good coverage but isn’t drying, like most concealers. I would repurchase.

I use Bare Minerals Foundation every day, but this is the pressed version. I have finally decided that even though the pressed version is more easy to use, the loose powder original version is just better. It just provides more coverage and looks less powdery on my skin. I probably wouldn’t repurchase this.

I used up two Burts Bees lip balms, one in original and one coconut pear. I prefer the original because of the minty tingle, but I would repurchase both!

This Arm and Hammer Toothpaste is my secret to white teeth! Even my dentist says how white my teeth are and it’s thanks to this. I love how it’s not overly sweet and minty, but still gives a really clean feeling after you use it.

This Activated Charcoal toothpaste for whitening was just ok, I don’t feel like it really did a lot, and it’s black color makes a big mess every time it’s used. I wouldn’t repurchase.

Loving Tan has become my favorite self tanner. I use this 2 HR Express formula along with a mitt, and it gives the perfect tan! I would repurchase.

This Clinique Moisturizer that I have been using for years just isn’t going to cut it anymore. I have since switched to a moisturizer with SPF and won’t be going back. This is the gel formula and was moisturizing and lightweight, so if you are looking for that, it’s a good one.

This is a little container of the Sol De Janiero Hair Repair Treatment Mask. I LOVED this. It has that same delicious smell as the Bum Bum Cream, and it was really nourishing for my hair. I can’t wait to get the full size!

Now for some random things.

This Banana Boat Sunscreen is all I use on my girls and they have never been sunburned. I use this on their bodies and their faces, and have purchased multiple bottles of this over the years. It’s tear free and feels nice and cool going on. Already repurchased!

This nail polish remover is like none other. As someone who paints their nails weekly, this is the best for removing even glitter nail color! It takes it right off. Already repurchased.

Another thing that is crucial for my manicure routine is one of these buffing blocks. You can get these pretty much anywhere and I always use one to buff my nails before painting so there’s no ridges or anything.

Lastly, Oxyclean Max Force. This is a laundry pre-treater for stains. I have YET to find a stain that this won’t take out. I use this on a daily basis on my girls and husband’s clothes (and mine sometimes!) and it just works. I also like the foam version of this. I spray it on and throw it into the hamper and then let it sit anywhere from a few hours to DAYS, and then throw it in the wash. It has never not worked. They don’t call me the stain master for nothing! Haha

Whew, that’s it for the empties! Have you used any of these products?

I’m Back With a SEPHORA Haul

Hello! It has been so long since I’ve made a post here on the ‘ol blog. It has been pretty much impossible to have time with my girls out of school this summer! They start school in about a week, so I will hopefully get back to my regular MWF posts. I made a list of a ton of things I want to write about, and I thought a Sephora Haul should be the first one up!

I pretty much placed this order for the birthday gift, but I couldn’t be stopped when I saw some new products.

Here’s what I got!

First off is this 4 Piece Hydrate Set from Pureology. This comes with small sizes of the hydrate shampoo and conditioner, the leave in spray with 21 benefits, and the dry shampoo. I have tried everything here, except the dry shampoo, which is what I got the kit for. I didn’t want to commit to a big size, and I love getting the rest of these small sizes too. I love the other three products.

If you know me, you know I love Bare Minerals, I’ve been using the powder foundation for about 13 years now, and I was THRILLED when I saw this pressed version of their Mineral Veil, which is a translucent setting powder. Anything pressed is better, IMO! I hope it’s as good as the original.

Next up is this little Cheek Pop Blush from Clinique in Pansy Pop. I used to have the shade Rosy Pop, but I used it up. I got this because it is supposedly a “dupe” for the sold-out-everywhere Dior Rosy Glow Blush. Ever since Kylie Jenner mentioned it saying how good it was, it is impossible to find! The color of this blush is beautiful, a bright lilac pink color. The formula of these blushes are awesome too, they are so pigmented and I love that they’re matte.

Oh, I have been wanting to try this Dior Lip Oil for so long, and I was so happy to find it in the color Cherry. I LOVE Dior lip products, and I’ve already tried this and it is perfect. It is such a pretty sheer color, and leaves my lips so soft and moisturized.

Also, I picked up a repurchase, my Paula’s Choice Super Light Daily Defense SPF 30. I use this everyday as a moisturizer underneath my Bare Minerals Foundation and it’s my favorite. Doesn’t leave me greasy, and adds a nice sheer tint to my skin.

Now for the freebies!

This was the free birthday gift– I think there are other sets to choose from, but I love NARS so I knew I wanted this one. It is a mini Laguna Bronzer and Laguna Lip Balm. Laguna Bronzer is too dark for my skintone, so I plan to use this as eyeshadow, which will be so pretty and bronzey. The lip balm is so so cute and the color just gives a slight golden-y sheen to my lips. Love both of these!

This was the mobile offer that I picked with my order, the Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper. I recently had to toss my Too Faced one because it got discolored somehow (and I only had it a few months), so I’ve been on the hunt for a new one. This is a very small size, but has very good reviews so hopefully I’ll like it.

That’s it for the haul! I think I got some good things to try out.

Let me know if you want an in-depth review on anything shown here!

Reading Wrap Up | April

I just finished reading my last book just in time for this reading wrap up! This month I read two thrillers and a family drama. I still have not read The Guest List by Lucy Foley, which was the top thriller/mystery of 2020! I need to get my hands on it ASAP! Have you guys read it?

Anyway, here is what I read in April!

The Accident by Natalie Barelli

This book was so good! It was about a lady named Katherine who makes friends with Eve, to thank her for saving her elderly mother from choking at the nursing home she lives in. One night they are drinking and get into a terrible accident, Katherine is driving and Eve assures her everything will be fine and she will make it all go away. Katherine soon finds out that Eve isn’t who she says she is and finds out the truth about her.

The Silent Wife by Kerry Fisher

This book was a family drama type, if you like books like Big Little Lies, then you will like this. It was about a family of two brothers who are both married with children. One of the wives, Maggie, discovers that her husband’s brothers “perfect” marriage isn’t really what it seems to the outside. As she befriends her sister-in-law Lara, she uncovers secrets that rips the whole family apart.

This book is really juicy and drama filled!

The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica

My favorite of the month was this one. This was a thriller with tons of twists and turns. It kind of reminded me of Gone Girl. Sadie is the main character with a husband and son. She moves to Maine with her family to inherit her husband’s sister’s estate. Along with the estate comes the woman’s sixteen year old daughter, who is extremely troubled. When a murder happens in their small town, everyone is distraught and can’t make sense of it.

This book was pretty scary in some parts, and definitely a page turner. There were a bunch of twists along the way too. I really liked this one!

That’s it for my reviews for April! What have you been reading lately?

EAT | TikTok Snickers CAKE

I’m back today with another healthy recipe! Haha. I saw this recipe on TikTok and I HAD to try it out. Snickers has been my favorite candy bar since I was a child…I mean, chocolate, caramel, and peanuts? How could you not love it?! This is a cake version that seemed so simple to make!

Here’s how I made it:

What you need:

  • A box of chocolate cake mix
  • A jar of caramel
  • Semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Peanuts

Make your cake according to the directions on the package.

Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9×13 pan.

Bake this at 350 degrees for 10 minutes and remove from oven.

Add your chocolate chips and peanuts on top of the cake and spread around evenly. I only used half of this container of peanuts, because in the video she used a smaller container.

Add your caramel sauce on top. HOW GOOD DOES THIS LOOK?!

Next, add the remaining cake batter on top and spread evenly. Make sure to cover up all of the peanuts and caramel.

Bake it at 250 degrees for 20 minutes, and then at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Here is the finished cake! You should smell my kitchen. It smells exactly like Snickers!

This cake was one of the best desserts I’ve ever made, and I can’t get over how simple and easy it was to make!!! The cake is super moist and chocolatey, and the peanuts give it a nice crunch.

If you love Snickers, you will love this cake!

Here is the original Tik Tok video.
