February Beauty Faves

Hello! I can’t believe it’s almost March! Today I’m going to share some products I’ve been using and loving all month long.

I’ll start off with some hair products.

I have been wearing my hair straight a lot this month, and I like to work ONE pump of this Living Proof Restore Smoothing Blowout Concentrate in my hair before blowdrying. The consistency is a serum and it smells so good and really smoothes the hair. I blow dry my hair with a round brush and this, and it gives the perfect blowout. I am almost out of this, so I will definitely be repurchasing.

When I want to put waves into my hair, I blow dry it and then I wrap sections of around my curling wand. After I am done making the loose waves, I hold up the hair I’ve curled from the top, spray some of this Sephora Collection Texturing Spray in, and then put it down and kind of scrunch it. It gives some texture and volume to the hair, and makes it look kind of undone and tousled. I love the smell of this and how beachy it makes my hair look.

Next, a skincare fave I have been using for a few months. This is the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant.

This product is a chemical exfoliant that is supposed to unclog and shrink pores, smooth and even out skintone, and help with acne since it contains salicylic acid. I don’t have trouble with acne or breakouts, but I had noticed my skin looking a bit dull and my pores looking larger. I decided to try this since it is top rated on the website. I apply a little bit of this to my skin every night and leave it on. After a one week purging period, my skin was so much brighter, clearer, and just smooth looking. My husband said it looked like I was wearing foundation when I wasn’t! I honestly can’t believe the difference in my skin. My pores are totally shrunk down, and I feel like my skin looks so youthful and bright.

Lastly, a few makeup faves.

Benefit Roller Lash is one of my favorite mascaras of all time. It is pricey, but it really lengthens my lashes and keeps them curled. I don’t like the price, but I do love this mascara and the packaging!

This gorgeous highlight is going to be so so pretty for the summer, but I’ve already been wearing it! This is the Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati, which is a beautiful silvery champagne color. This is a teeny sample, but it has lasted almost a month. I’ve been using it over my blush and in my inner corners of my eyes for highlight. I love it and will need to get the full size soon!

Here’s a swatch!

That’s all the faves for this month!

JANUARY Beauty Faves

Hello! It is the end of January, which means it is time for a new batch of FAVES! Here is what I’ve been loving this month.

My first favorite is this pink nail color from Essie. This is called One Way For One, from the recent Flying Solo collection. This is a beautiful hot pink color with a golden pearl sheen. Sooooo pretty.

Next, a matte rosy blush color from Clinique called Rosy Pop. I love this line of blush colors. They are so pretty, long wearing, and I love the packaging. Here is a swatch.

Lastly for makeup, THE best liquid liner. This is the Stila Stay All Day liner. This liner is a super matte black color, and the pointy felt tip makes it so easy to use. I don’t use this every day, but when I want to do my makeup FANCY, I use this. It really does stay put.

Lots of haircare faves this month!

So, Pureology is some of the best haircare out there. This line is the Strength Cure line, and not only does it smell amazing, but I love how much the shampoo lathers up. It doesn’t have sulfates, but it produces so many bubbles and my hair feels so clean after using it. The conditioner is equally good, it leaves my hair so so soft. If you feel like splurging, try this!

Next is my favorite hairspray, Paul Mitchell’s Hot Off the Press. This hairspray provides a light, touchable hold. I use this in my hair when I curl or wave it, and it keeps the style, but it’s not crunchy. I can still run my fingers through my hair when I use this. It smells good, too.

Lastly, my trusty Wet Brush. We have six of these bad boys between my girls and I. Having two girls with long hair, and myself, we have a lot of tangles, and the Wet Brush really helps. It is better than a comb because it doesn’t pull the hair and it detangles easily. We also use these on our dry hair. They come in tons of colors. Love them.

So, that’s it for my faves! What have you been loving this month?

BEST OF BEAUTY | 2019

Yay!!! 2020 is almost here, and I’m so excited to share my favorite post, BEST OF BEAUTY! I look forward to creating this every year and sharing it with you all. This is the 7th year I’ve done it. Here are the faves!

First off, the MAKEUP.

I’ve only mentioned this powder a million times, but the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Pressed Powder Foundation in the color Aspen is my go-to, wear-every-day foundation. It evens out my skintone and provides the light coverage that I love. I’ve been using this pretty much every day for a year and it’s almost gone. Already have a back-up, of course.

Next is a matte bronzer that I also use every single day. This is my second compact of this, and it is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Milk Chocolate. This is a light matte bronzer that I use to warm up my skin and it never comes out orange. Love it.

For blush, here is one that I used up and accidentally threw away. I featured it recently in my post, Products I’ve Hit Pan On. This is the MAC Sheertone Blush in Springsheen. It is the perfect peachy pink colored blush with golden shimmer; it is beautiful.

Here is a swatch. These pics are from a previous blog post. How pretty is this color?! Love it and I’m definitely gonna repurchase.

I have a few eye products that were stand out faves.

The Loreal Lash Paradise Mascara is definitely my favorite of the year. This mascara is BETTER than some of the high end brands I’ve tried! It lengthens, gives a ton of volume, and my lashes stay curled all day. Love it.

The Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Demolition is my favorite eyeliner of the year, and I think the only one I’ve used this year. I like to use a dark brown liner instead of black because I feel like it looks more natural. This one is a deep matte brown. I line my upper lashline/tight line with this, and then also smudge it out underneath my bottom lashline. It gives a pretty and smoky look.

For lips, hands down is my MAC Lustre Lipstick in Syrup. This is my favorite lipstick because it’s a sheer and shiny rosy pink color. It’s kind of like a my lips but better color, and it so comfortable and hydrating.

Also, the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Liner in Pillowtalk is really good to go along with it. This liner DOES NOT BUDGE and is seriously the perfect nude.

Here’s some swatches, Pillow Talk on the left, Syrup on the right.

This year, I loved the metallic colors when it came to nail polish. This gold color called Daring Damsel is so so pretty and the type of color that goes with anything. The other color is a light rosy gold called A Touch of Sugar that is just beautiful.

Here are some swatches.

Pretty right? I used both of these a lot this year.

Let’s move on to skincare.

I recently did a skincare post, and there I stated that I really wasn’t all that into skincare. I really don’t ever skip my moisturizer, though, and this Cerave AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is what I use every day. It is lightweight and has SPF. What more do you need?

Also, a little bit of a splurge, but something I can’t live without, is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I love this stuff and have purchased so many bottles of it. It is a toner that I spray on after moisturizing, and not only does it smell like a spa, but it feels cooling and amazing on the skin. Love it.

Almost done! Last is haircare.

I discovered this Kristin Ess Dry Finish Working Texture Spray after I heard it was a dupe for that pricey Oribe one. I use this in my hair when I want textured and wavy beachy type hair. This sprays in matte and gives some grip to the hair. It smells so good and I love how my hair looks when I use it.

Next is a longtime fave, my It’s A 10 Miracle Leave In Product. This is what I use every single time I blowdry and style my hair. I spray about 3-4 pumps in and work it through. This not only protects from heat, but it detangles, conditions, adds shine, and does 10 things to help your hair. It also smells so good.

That’s it for the faves for 2019!

September Beauty FAVES

Hello! September is over and it is officially fall! Today I have my beauty faves to share with you, and a lot of them are old faves that I have recently rediscovered. Oldies but goodies.

Here they are!

Let’s start with the makeup.

This magical powder is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. This is a setting powder that gives a blurred look to the skin. It’s hard to put my finger on WHY I look so much better when I use this. It’s not shimmery or glittery at all, but it gives my skin an extra somethin’ somethin’. You know what I mean. It comes in a bunch of shades but this yellow-y one speaks to me. This is the second one I’ve purchased. It’s pricey, but it will last you a long time.

Next is the Bare Minerals Prime Time OG Primer. Now, I’m a big Bare Minerals Foundation fan, I wear it every day. I also wear this primer underneath it every day! I have heard people talk about powder foundations, saying they can’t wear them because it sinks into lines and pores, makes them look dry, etc…and to that I say, try this! It’s a soft silicone-y feeling primer that dries down fast and matte, fills in pores and gives a lovely smooth canvas. It’s a must have, even if you don’t wear powder foundation.

Ok, next up is an oldddd fave. So old in fact, I made my very first blog post on it. Back in the Amy’s Beauty Diary days. I cringe at this post, but here it is in all its glory. 2013 y’all. Anyway, I still love it. It’s the Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rose. It comes in a bunch of colors now (like 16!) but rose has always been the fave. It smells amazing like lemon cake, and it is so moisturizing and luxurious. I use this pretty much every day and it gives just a hint of color. I have two backups!

Next is also a really old fave that I recently repurchased after I read an article about how Meghan Markle does her makeup. She uses a shadow stick like this NYX Jumbo Pencil in Iced Mocha. Now, in addition to wearing a brown pencil eyeliner (I do that too!) she uses a jumbo pencil cream shadow all over the lid and smudges it under the lashline. So yeah, I remembered this little guy from BACK IN THE DAY. It is so pretty, why did I stop using it?! It’s such a nice bronze-y metallic color, SO easy to blend and is so quick! Love it.

Here are some swatches of the pencil and the lip balm (and my blue veins).

Next up is a nail color I have loved since just about the beginning of summer. It’s an Essie color (no surprise there); the packaging just calls me! They always have the best colors. This color is A Touch of Sugar. This color is a sheer light pink with some golden shimmer. It looks like a really light rose gold. It is GORGEOUS.

Two more faves!

Sometimes I like to self-tan, and this one was my favorite all summer! This is the Loving Tan 2 HR Express. This is a foam, and I use it with a tanning mitt. I buff it in, wait around for about 2 hrs, and then rinse it off. It gives the best color. Not orange-y at all, and it lasts a solid week for me!

Lastly, a dry shampoo. I have always been a Batiste fan, but I hadn’t tried this scent, the Clean and Light Bare. Some Batiste scents are super overpowering, but I really like how this one is barely scented. Sometimes the scents give me a headache. Batiste is the best dry shampoo because it absorbs oil, and really makes my hair feel clean and volumized.

So, that’s it for the faves! What have you been loving this month?

August Beauty Faves

Hello! I am so happy to be doing a beauty faves post today! Summer is almost over, but where I live in Texas we will have summer for another month! It currently says 96 degrees in my car right now as I type this in the parent pickup line. 🙂

Today I am going to be sharing my faves that I have been using nonstop in August. I have everything from hair care to makeup, so let’s get started!

First off, I want to talk about this body cream from Sol De Janeiro. This is a very popular cream called the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I’ll be honest, I only bought this for the smell. It smells amazing. It’s a warm vanilla scent that reminds me of a tropical beach vacation. It is a VERY strong smell, and the smell lingers for me until I wash it off the next day. I wouldn’t use this daily, just because the scent is so strong, but a trip to the pool, beach, or something like that-it’s perfect. It is extremely moisturizing, and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy at all. It is also supposed to firm and smooth the skin over time. I really like this. Just go smell it.

Next, is a perfume. I am not big into perfume, in fact, I only have ONE (gasp) and it’s Chanel Coco De Mademoiselle. I have worn it for years and it’s just been my go-to. I really love floral scents and not much of anything else. I like to just smell like flowers, so this Replica Flower Market is perfect. This smells exactly like when you stick your face into a bouquet of roses to smell them. Exactly. And who doesn’t want to smell like that?! I bought the travel size because I wasn’t going to shell out $126 for the full size when I didn’t even know if I was going to like it. But, I’m definitely going to when this runs out! I also like that it’s an actual spray instead of a rollerball.

I am all about drugstore shampoo and conditioner (to me, it’s the styling products that matter), and I love this Dove Creme Conditioner Concentrated Moisture. This is probably the 6th tube I have used up, and it’s really nice. It’s a thick conditioner that feels like a mask. It smoothes and makes my hair super soft, and Dove hair products always smell really good. I get this at Walmart for like 5 bucks.

I have a few makeup items, first off, the best bronzer of life, my Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soieil Matte Bronzer. I would be a ghost without this stuff. I’m on my third compact because I just won’t even try anything else. The milk chocolate color is perfect for my fair skin, it’s matte, not orange-y and it smells like CHOCOLATE. The best.

Next is this ADORABLE Winky Lux lippie. This is the Confetti Balm, and it came in a set with a Mini Disco Kitten Gloss in Hustle (which is my fave also) and a cute little kitten pouch. I LOVE Winky Lux. So, this lip balm is clear with glitter inside. It is so pretty and I love the sleek silver packaging. It looks clear, but once you apply it, it changes to a pink shade. It’s kind of like a tinted balm. It smells like vanilla and keeps my lips soft.

I mean, look at it.

Here are the bronzer and lip balm swatched.

My last fave is a nail color, and surprise, surprise, it’s Essie. The color is Go Ginza and it’s a very light lavender.

I’ve just been doing neutrals on my nails lately, and this lavender color is so light, that I consider it to be a neutral. It goes with everything, and just looks chic. It’s a great alternative to white or light pink.

So that’s all the faves for the month!

What beauty products have you been using this month?
