I’ve done it you guys. I have found the perfect pink nail color. It’s not too bright, it’s not too dark, not too white, not too neutral. It is just an opaque creamy pink, and it’s perf.
The Expressie line from Essie is a few years old; it’s supposed to be a quicker drying formula, and I think it is superior to the original Essie formula.
This shade is almost completely opaque in one coat, but I like to do two coats to make it look really nice. The brush on the Expressie polish is also thicker and so easy to apply.
This is my second or third bottle of this particular color, and I love it! If you are looking for a quick drying color, try this one out! I think you’ll love it too.
So, first off. I love the color and packaging. You get a ton of product, and the smell is amazing, like gummy bears. BUT, I just don’t like sticking my finger in there and applying it to my lips that way. I just don’t. I prefer a lip balm in a stick form. But that was my mistake, I clearly knew it was in a tub when I bought it.
The thing is, it isn’t moisturizing! I honestly think it makes my lips chapped. For a mask, it’s very thin and doesn’t stay on long at all. It just wasn’t it for me. I prefer my Burt’s Bees over this.
This stuff is very pricey, but it does come in a large tub. It is a translucent powder that is supposed to give a soft focus blurring effect. For me, it doesn’t blur. What it does do is give me a huge white cast no matter how little I apply. It really leaves my skin so incredibly dry, and doesn’t give me a skin like finish.
I also really don’t like loose powder, but thought I would give it a go because of all of the positive reviews. I prefer the Hourglass pressed powders or the BM Pressed Mineral Veil. Those blur and don’t leave a white cast.
Years ago, I loved this concealer; it was my go to. I recently purchased it again because I remembered how much I used to love it! I’m not sure if the formula has changed or what, but this is a lot thicker and drier than I remember – and this is coming from a Tarte Shape Tape girl. I was hoping for a change from the shape tape, something lighter and with a hydrating finish. It was just way too drying.
The more I wear this nail color, the more I don’t like it. Unlike other pale pink colors that I own, this color really leans…warm? It has kind of a orange-tan look to it rather than a pale pink. I just don’t like this, and I regret buying it since I never reach for it.
I don’t have sensitive skin, but this stuff BURNS. I get that it is a peeling exfoliant, but I can’t even leave it on for a full minute because it hurts so bad! I have read such great reviews on it, and I think the problem is that I have dry skin. It has such good ingredients and I love exfoliators, so I was sad this didn’t work out!
Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them? Let me know!
You know the girl. She’s effortless, cool, casual, but always put together. Today we are gonna get the look from some cute accessories.
First up, a belt bag, but if you’re a millennial like me, you’ll know this as a FANNY PACK.
Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag
I’m gonna try to link this, but they are super popular right now. I’ve had mine for a year or so, but recently they’ve blown up on social media and everyone has them! The hype is real, though. They are so easy and convenient, they are hands free, and go with any casual outfit. They are especially cute with athleisure, and so roomy! I even did a Whats In My Lululemon Belt Bag post, check it out here!
It even looks cute with my bum uniform, a tank top, joggers, and a hoodie! My daughter Allie, who is a preteen, has a Lulu one in a hot pink color, and she LOVES hers. See? GEN Z APPROVED! Here is a similar option from Target if you can’t get your hands on the LULU.
Next up, some fun hair claw clips.
Claw clips are so trendy and soo cute. They are totally 90’s, and I love to wear them! Between me and my girls, we have a TON, but these are our favorites. We wear them by gathering up all of our hair, twisting it upward, and then using the clip to hold it up.
Ashley is ready for her model moment. The girl loves to accessorize!
Gold jewelry is also crucial to the look of an IT GIRL.
I love the look of this gold coin choker, and these medium sized chunky hoop earrings. I pair this choker with my name necklace that I never take off, and I love the combo. Both of these are from Etsy.
These chunky gold hoops dress up any look and just instantly make you look put together!
Next up, some slides.
I know athletic slides are really on trend, and I do love those, but I love these embellished slides MORE.
Love the clear strap and the little champagne gold colored beads. These are so cute and can dress up any outfit. I love to wear these with sundresses or just jean shorts and a tank. I’ve also seen slides embellished with pearls, and those are so cute too.
Lastly, chrome nail color.
I did a post on Glazed Donut Nails last week, and I for one, am loving this trend!
These colors are so pretty and shimmery, but without the chunks of glitter. Essie Jingle Belle is a silver chrome, OPI Happy Anniversary is a white pearl, and Essie Love At Frost Sight is a frosty silver light blue color. All of these are gorgeous on the nails, and give that chrome look.
Alright, well that’s it for my It Girl fashion trends! What trends have you been loving lately?
If you haven’t heard, Hailey Bieber has started a major trend online; her “glazed donut nails” have gone viral and it’s all over TikTok!
Here is a pic of her nails. They are sheer and they have that pearly look about them that is so pretty!
Now, the way that she does it is at a nail salon, she gets a sheer milky white or pale pink color (she has actually mentioned OPI Funny Bunny) and she has the nail tech use a chrome nail powder (OPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can) over the top, and it gives a pretty pearlescent sheen. It is really gorgeous.
I fell in love with these nails, so I tried to re-create the look at home using the nail colors I had.
I layered one coat of the Cosmic Blur, waited until that dried, and then one coat of Sheer Fantasy. I love the way this turned out!
Next up is the more white (and more opaque) version. I used a thin coat of OPI Funny Bunny, which is a sheer white cream, and ILNP Keepsake, which is a pale cream with micro holographic shimmer.
I did one coat of Funny Bunny, and one coat of Keepsake and I think it looks a little more nude, but I love the look of it. I think this one is my favorite of the two.
I just love this nude trend! It’s like the natural nail look, but more polished and classy.
Do you like this trend? What is your favorite nude nail color?
Welp I’m a month late with this empties post, but I still want to share some mini reviews on things I’ve used and loved!
Let’s start with some hair care.
This Dove Dry Shampoo is one of my favorites, it really does help with the oil in my hair and adds some volume. The fragrance is a bit strong, but it dissipates quickly. I would repurchase.
I like to use a texturizing spray in my hair when I curl or wave it. This Kristen Ess one is really nice for that, and adds the perfect amount of texture without making it crunchy or dry. It just gives the curls and waves a less “done” look and makes them look more beachy. I already repurchased!
Another texture spray that I tried was the Living Proof Dry Volume Texture Spray. I also liked this one! It is pricier than the Kristen Ess one, and it did exactly the same thing. I prefer the Kristen Ess one because it is cheaper and I like the smell more. I probably won’t purchase this.
I always use the Garnier Micellar Water to remove makeup; I’m sure it’s been in every empties post I’ve done! I use this on a makeup eraser cloth and it takes all of my makeup off super easy and then I go in with cleanser. Already repurchased!
I just raved about the Tree Hut Shave Oil in my recent favorites post HERE, and I just used up the Coconut Lime scented one. I use one pump on each leg when I shave, and it makes my skin so smooth and soft. I really noticed a difference when I started using it. They have a bunch of scents; I saw a watermelon one yesterday, so I am going to try that one next. Already repurchased!
Do you guys use oil blotting sheets? I use them in the summer when my skin gets a bit oily because I don’t like putting powder on when it’s hot. They absorb all of the oil without taking off my makeup. The Boscia ones are good, but really any brand works! Already repurchased.
If you know my blog, you know I’m a die hard Bare Minerals fan! There is nothing better than their Original Powder Foundation, but geez, why is it so messy?! It gets everywhere. Anyway, I used one up, and I actually bought a MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation compact. I like the finish of the BM more, but the Studio Fix does the job and is way less messy. The BM really does give a skin-like finish and is the light coverage that I love. I would repurchase it, even though it makes a mess on my counter.
Oh, Tarte Shape Tape. I can’t live without you. No concealer I have compares to this one, it has the mega coverage I need for my dark circles, and I just love it. One tube lasts me like a whole year. Already repurchased.
The L’Oréal Lash Paradise is also in every empties post; it is my favorite because it lengthens, volumizes, and holds a curl. I recently tried this Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift Mascara, and dude, I love it just as much. I repurchased both.
Lastly, a little baby Lawless Forget the Filler Gloss. I LOVED this gloss! It smelled good and the formula was so smooth and non-sticky. I noticed a slight plumping, but nothing crazy and it isn’t spicy. I would repurchase this.
