April Beauty Faves

Hello! I’m gonna be honest, I don’t have a lot to write about right now, or a lot of time to write. My kids are with me 24/7 and I’ve gotta entertain them! But, they are asleep right now, so I figured I would work on my April Beauty Faves!

Here they are!

The faves this month were mostly skincare. I haven’t tried any new makeup and I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup, to be honest.

So first off is this huge bottle of Dr. Teals Pink Himalayan Foaming Bath. For some reason, it’s hard to find bubble bath, so I always buy this from my local grocery store. I love the smell of it, and one capful makes a TON of bubbles. I like to take baths at night sometimes and this makes my skin really soft. It’s also really affordable and it comes in other scents.

Next is this Aveeno Skin Relief Overnight Cream aka MY FOOT CREAM. I walk around barefoot pretty much all the time, my home has stained concrete flooring, and I just don’t like wearing shoes. So, you can imagine that my feet get dry and rough on the bottom. I apply this to my heels and the bottom of my feet every night and it really helps. It helps with any dry skin. I buy this from Amazon in a 3-pack.

For my face, I have been using this Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream. This is thick and moisturizing, just what my dry skin needs. Even though it is thick, it doesn’t feel greasy, and my skin looks so soft in the morning. I also like that it is fragrance free, and Cerave never breaks me out.

Lastly for skin is this retinol eye cream from The Inkey List. This is an affordable newish brand from Sephora that has a bunch of different skincare products. I love eye cream in a little tube like this (as opposed to a jar). You just need the teeniest amount under your eyes and my eyes look brighter and it also helps with the fine lines because of the retinol. I use this in the morning and also at night and I’ve seen a difference!

A few weeks ago, I did a full blog post on this lip combo, but I am still loving it! I haven’t been wearing full makeup, but a little lipstick and mascara just makes me feel good. This is the Clinique Chubby Stick in Whole Lotta Honey and the Marc Jacobs lip liner in Slow Burn. These two together are moisturizing lip perfection. My lips but better paradise.

I also haven’t given up on my nails (I could never!). I’ve been loving the Essie Expressie Quick Dry Nail Color in In The Time Zone. I have a full blog post on it here. It dries super quick, and I love this neutral pink!

Lastly for the hair, I had this sample sized Alterna Caviar CC Cream that I am almost out of. Even though it was a sample, it’s lasted me pretty much all month! It is a leave in conditioning cream that helps with 10 different things, including smoothing and protecting your hair from heat. I love the citrusy smell and it really makes my hair so smooth! I can’t wait to buy the full size.

Alright, well that does it for the April Faves this month. Hope you guys enjoyed it!

How To: At Home Manicure!

Hello! Since nail salons are closed, I thought I would share how to do an at-home manicure! I prefer to do my own nails, so this is what I do every week (sometimes twice a week) when I change my nail color.

What you need:

  • Nail clippers
  • Nail file
  • Cuticle tool
  • Nail buffer
  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail color
  • Top coat
  • Cuticle oil or cream

The first thing you want to do is clip and file your nails. You want to make sure they are all the same shape and length, and get rid of any jagged edges.

Next, you will use your cuticle tool (or orange stick) to gently push back your cuticles. I don’t trim my cuticles(ouch), I just push them back.

Then I use my buffing tool to gently buff them. I use the harshest side to smooth them out and get rid of any ridges or tears.

Ok, now it’s time to swipe the nails with remover. I use acetone because it works the best. I take a q-tip and quickly swipe over the nails. This dehydrates the nail and helps the nail polish to adhere better and avoid chipping.

Ready to paint!

I don’t typically use a base coat. I know, probably bad, but I just don’t feel like it makes that big of a difference.

I start with my left hand, and then so my right. I am using Essie Bikini So Teeny, a periwinkle blue with a subtle glitter. A summer classic. I usually do 2-3 coats on each nail, letting each coat dry in between for a few minutes.

After that is dry, I finish off with my top coat, and let dry for a solid hour. I usually do this at night after the girls go to bed, so I don’t have to touch anything (JJ is in charge of getting me snacks during this time, haha).

After they are very dry, I always apply a hand cream or lotion because the acetone dries out the skin around my nails.

And that’s it! It’s pretty easy, and with practice, you’ll be a pro!

Products I’ve Used Up | Quarterly Empties

Hi everyone! I hope all of y’all are doing well. Things are a bit different right now, but I want to get back into blogging like normal. These past few weeks I’ve had both of my girls home with me (which I admit, I love), but it’s a little bit hard to find time to work on my blog.

Currently in my county in Texas, we aren’t under any stay at home orders, but my girls and I haven’t been anywhere (other than a car ride) in 16 days now. My husband has still been working (his business is considered “essential”). I’m scared of us getting the virus, so we are voluntarily staying home. We live in the country so we are outside a lot and have a lot to do. It’s actually not that big of a change for me, seeing as I am always home, but the girls do miss seeing their friends and going to school. Hopefully things will go back to normal soon.

Anyway, I have some empties to share. I’ve been accumulating them since the beginning of the year, so here they are!

Let’s start with haircare.

This is my favorite drugstore shampoo and conditioner duo, the Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. The smell of this is amazing, and it makes my hair so clean and the conditioner really helps to soften and detangle. My girls also use this and they have really long hair as well. Already repurchased both!

I’ve got a bunch of skincare empties!

Garnier Micellar Water – I love this to help remove my makeup at night. It takes everything off and doesn’t leave an oily residue. Already repurchased.

Origins Original Skin Resurfacing Mask With Rose Clay – this mask is just a typical exfoliating mud mask. I did like it, but for the price I wouldn’t repurchase. You can find something at the drugstore that does the same thing.

Clinique Gel Moisturizer – I love this moisturizer and use it daily. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t contain SPF. I have to use a sunscreen along with it, but I don’t care cause I love it so. It doesn’t leave me greasy and works really well for my normal/dry skin. Already repurchased.

Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser – I use this cleanser with my Clarisonic every single morning in the shower. Does a good job of cleaning my face and doesn’t strip my skin. Also doesn’t break me out. Already repurchased.

Lastly, some man empties. I leave these in because maybe you know a guy that needs something new!

Clinique For Men Oil Control Moisturizer – my husband JJ really likes this because he has oily skin, and it really helps with controlling oil and it looks nice on the skin because it is mattifying. He puts this on every morning, so we have already repurchased.

Clinique For Men Face Scrub – he uses this in the shower a few times a week and it is a super minty and (pretty harsh to me) exfoliating scrub. He really likes this, so I have repurchased.

Now, the makeup.

Bare Minerals Bare Pro Powder Foundation – y’all know I love this stuff, this compact lasted me over a year, and I use it every single day! It has the light coverage I love and is so easy and quick to apply. Already repurchased.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose – I feel like I have one of these in every empties post. This is basically a tinted lip balm with such a pretty hint of red color. It is so moisturizing and smells SO GOOD. I have a back up of course.

Fenty Beauty Lip Gloss in Fenty Glow – I really like this lip gloss, it is a nude color with a golden shimmer. It lasts and isn’t sticky. I would definitely repurchase this one.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – this is THE BEST concealer EVER. This stuff is so good at covering my dark circles and you only need a tiny bit. It lasts all day and doesn’t crease. I’ve already got a new one.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipshine in InTime – this is a very sheer and hydrating lip color that was a mauve purple color. It barely showed up on my lips but was very hydrating. I probably wouldn’t repurchase though, because it’s pretty expensive for a tinted lip balm.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara– this is my favorite high-end mascara. It holds a curl, lengthens like crazy, and separates the lashes perfectly. I love this stuff. Would repurchase.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – this is also a really good one. It doesn’t lengthen quite as much as Roller Lash, but the brush is so big and so easy to apply, so it is still a really good pick. Would repurchase.

L’Oréal Lash Paradise – my faaaave. I have raved about this mascara because it is perfect. It is does everything Roller Lash does, but at drugstore price. I have several backups.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – I’m not a fan. I don’t like this setting spray because I don’t like the stiff way it makes my face feel. I don’t have problem with makeup staying on anyway, so I won’t repurchase.

Onyx Professional Acetone Nail Polish Remover – this stuff is the jam and I will never be without it! It takes off everything so quick and easily (even glitter) and the big bottle lasts forever. Already have a backup.

Alright, so that is it for the empties! What have you been using up?

Thanks for reading, and stay safe out there! Here are a few of my previous blogs that you can do to help fight the boredom. 🙂

Top 5 | Purple Nail Colors

A few weeks ago, I posted my top five favorite PINK nail colors, so I thought it would be fun to post my top five favorite purple colors! Pink and purple are my favorite colors to wear on my nails. I just love girly and feminine nail colors. Here are the top 5!

My first favorite is Essie Go Ginza.

This is a very light pale purple cream with a slight gray to it. This is light enough that I consider it to be a neutral.

Next up, Nails Inc. Unicorn Wishes.

This color is so fun. This is a lavender colored multi chrome. The color shifts as you move your nails from purple-y pink to blue. It is so pretty, but sheer. I have three coats on here.

One of my favorite colors of all time, OPI Show Us Your Tips.

This color is a shimmery periwinkle that is GORGEOUS in person. This color is also a bit sheer, so I have three coats on here.

Next up, a Zoya polish in the color Zara.

This is a light purple with a golden duo chrome shimmer. This is unlike any other color I have, and it is so pretty.

Lastly, Essie Play Date.

This is the perfect purple for spring! It is a pinky-toned purple cream color that is pretty opaque. I only used two coats here.

That is it for my favorite purple nail colors!

What is your favorite purple?

Top 5 | Pink Essie Colors

Hello! I LOVE the color pink. It is so girly and pretty, and it’s my favorite color to wear on my nails and toes. I thought it would be fun to share my all time favorite pink nail colors. Here they are!

I’ll start with the lightest shade, Essie Gel Couture in Matter of Fiction.

This is the second bottle I have purchased of this color, and it is stunning. If you don’t like stark white nails, this is a super pale baby pink cream color that almost looks white. So pretty!

The next color is also a Gel Couture, called PR Stunt.

This is my favorite Essie pink that I own. This is a lavender pink cream color. Looking at the bottle, it looks like there is a metallic sheen, but it doesn’t show on the nails. I love this color, especially for my toes in the summertime!

Next is a color I wear a TON, Essie Touch of Sugar.

This is a very light metallic rose gold color. It is surprisingly not sheer and is fully opaque with 2 coats. This color would look so good with a tan for the summer!

Next is another Gel Couture (I love the line) and it is called Stitch By Stitch.

This is a deeper rosy pink cream color, a little bit of a nude; more muted pink. This color goes on like a dream and goes with any outfit!

Lastly, my newest polish, but already makes the cut. Essie One Way For One.

This is a hot pink color with a frosty gold sheen. This color is gorgeous. It reminds me of Barbie and I love it!

Do you like pink nails? What is your favorite pink nail color?
