I just finished reading my last book just in time for this reading wrap up! This month I read two thrillers and a family drama. I still have not read The Guest List by Lucy Foley, which was the top thriller/mystery of 2020! I need to get my hands on it ASAP! Have you guys read it?

Anyway, here is what I read in April!

The Accident by Natalie Barelli

This book was so good! It was about a lady named Katherine who makes friends with Eve, to thank her for saving her elderly mother from choking at the nursing home she lives in. One night they are drinking and get into a terrible accident, Katherine is driving and Eve assures her everything will be fine and she will make it all go away. Katherine soon finds out that Eve isn’t who she says she is and finds out the truth about her.

The Silent Wife by Kerry Fisher

This book was a family drama type, if you like books like Big Little Lies, then you will like this. It was about a family of two brothers who are both married with children. One of the wives, Maggie, discovers that her husband’s brothers “perfect” marriage isn’t really what it seems to the outside. As she befriends her sister-in-law Lara, she uncovers secrets that rips the whole family apart.

This book is really juicy and drama filled!

The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica

My favorite of the month was this one. This was a thriller with tons of twists and turns. It kind of reminded me of Gone Girl. Sadie is the main character with a husband and son. She moves to Maine with her family to inherit her husband’s sister’s estate. Along with the estate comes the woman’s sixteen year old daughter, who is extremely troubled. When a murder happens in their small town, everyone is distraught and can’t make sense of it.

This book was pretty scary in some parts, and definitely a page turner. There were a bunch of twists along the way too. I really liked this one!

Hello! It’s been awhile, but I have some books to review for you today! All are thriller/mysteries which is what I like most. Here’s what I read in March.

The Housekeeper – Natalie Barelli

This book is about a girl named Claire who sees a girl that she used to know named Hannah. Hannah wasn’t very nice to her all of those years ago, and “took everything from her”,so Claire decides to stalk her. She finds out about Hannah’s seemingly “perfect life” and wants to get revenge by applying for Hannah’s housekeeper position.

This book had total The Last Mrs. Parrish vibes, which I reviewed back in December. If you liked that book, you’ll like this one. It really was an entertaining book and had some good twists.

Playing Nice – J.P. Delaney

This next book was a family drama/thriller that I could not put down! This was about a man named Pete who drops off his son at preschool and returns home to find a man named Miles. Miles tells Pete that his son Theo is not really his, that there was a mix up at the hospital the day Theo was born, and that their sons were switched at birth. Miles doesn’t know what to think, and as he gets to know the other family, he uncovers secrets about them.

It was a little bit sad, kind of even heart wrenching at times when Pete thinks of his life without his son that he has raised for two years.

I Am Watching You – Teresa Driscoll

I Am Watching You – Teresa Driscoll

This one was just ok for me. It switched a lot between first and third person, which annoyed me a lot. It was about a woman named Anna who sees a pair teenage of girls on a train and sees some older men flirting with them and overhears that these men have just gotten out of prison. The woman wants to protect the girls from these men but something stops her from doing anything. The girls leave with the men that night, and then she later learns that one of the girls disappeared that night. Soon Anna begins to get threatening letters and realizes someone must have seen her on the train that night.

It seems like a great plot, but really was just boring and took a long time to get to the point. This one was just ok for me.

This is my last post of 2020, and I’ve saved the best for last! My picks for best books of 2020. This was not hard for me to choose at all, I loved all of these books and want to recommend them to you!

5. Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover’s books are usually family drama/romance type books with some kind of twist. They aren’t my usual thrillers but I still love them. This one was no exception. It is about a woman who suddenly loses her husband in a car accident, and has a teenage daughter that she has to raise alone. Her and the daughter don’t get along too well, and she begins to find out secrets about her husband along the way.

4. Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This book was so popular this year! It seems like everyone read it. It was a coming-of-age book about a girl who lived alone in a swamp, and about the events leading up to her living there alone. There was also a kind of murder mystery aspect to it. I could really see this book being made into a movie.

3. The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

This book is about a woman named Cass, who is driving late at night, in the rain, and through the woods. She passes by a stopped car and sees a woman inside who just stares at her. Later after arriving home, she hears that the woman she saw in the car has been murdered. She doesn’t want to tell her husband, because he didn’t want her taking that way home in the first place. She cannot stop thinking about the woman, and weird things start happening, she feels like she is being watched and also loses her memory.

This book totally surprised me at the end with its twist and I really love the books from this author. They are always suspenseful and good.

2. The Lost Man by Jane Harper

This book was really good! It was about two grown brothers who live on big sprawling properties in the outback. They find their third brother dead near an old stockman’s grave landmark. The whole book is them trying to figure out what happened to him, and what was going wrong in his life. There are some twists and turns along the way.

1. Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson

This was my top book of 2020! Of course, a thriller with a huge twist! A girl named Hen and her husband move into a new house and go to meet their new neighbors. At their house, she sees a trophy with a name on it that she recognizes from researching a murder case that she used to be obsessed with. Something about her new neighbor seems off to her, and she wants to get to the bottom of it. This book was so good and had a big twist at the end! Loved it.

It’s already almost the end of the year, and I have my reviews for the month of December! These are all thrillers. Stay tuned for My Best Books of 2020 coming up in a few weeks!

The Last Mrs. Parrish – Liv Constantine

This one was really good! This is about a girl who sees this lady and her husband, and befriends them with the hopes of stealing her husband. They are rich and she envies their seemingly “perfect” life.

Someone Knows – Lisa Scottoline

I have read a few books from this author, and this one just kind of missed the mark for me. It was about a group of teenagers who played a game of Russian Roulette 20 years ago and were bound by a secret they all kept. This book was all over the place for me, I didn’t like the ending and it was hard to keep up with all of the characters. Wouldn’t really recommend this one.

The Third Wife – Lisa Jewell

Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite authors, I usually love all of her books! This one is about a lady named Maya who is killed by a bus. No one knows if it was an accident or on purpose. Her husband is devastated and is determined to find out what happened. He soon starts to find out that his life with Maya wasn’t so perfect after all.
