Top 5 | Lip Glosses

Are you a lipstick girl or a gloss girl? I feel like I’m both…! I love a matte lip, but also a glossy shiny lip! Today I am sharing my 5 favorite lip glosses. These are all non-sticky, too. I cannot stand a sticky lip gloss!

First off, my FAVORITE one of all-time. The Dior Lip Maximizer. This is not only a lip gloss, but a plumper too. When I first started using this a few years ago, it only came in this color, but now it comes in a bunch! The color I have is just Pink, and it’s a very light pastel pink, and smells like vanilla. It doesn’t add much color, but it is oh so shiny and it tingles a bit when applied. It plumps the lips ever so subtly, and is just the perfect lip gloss. It’s Sarah Jessica Parker’s fave, too.

My second favorite lip gloss formula is the Nars Lip Gloss. Like Dior, it is smooth and non-sticky. The color I have is Love Me Do, which is a bright hot pink. I love this for summer, it is so so pretty on the lips. This lip gloss doesn’t really have a smell.

The next one is the Winky Lux Disco Lip Gloss. I have tried all of the different colors of this gloss, and they are STUNNING. When first applied, they come off as clear, but then they change into a pretty pink color, and they are chock full of shimmer. They also smell like vanilla, and I LOVE THEM. This color is Hustle, but all of the colors are pretty.

This Fenty Beauty Gloss in Fenty Glow was the original color of this gloss. This is a more neutral color, a rosy mauve color with some golden shimmer. This gloss smells just like Hawaiian Punch and I love the big applicator. This is just a go-with-anything type of gloss.

Lastly is technically a balm…but it is just as shiny and shimmery as a gloss so I wanted to throw it in here. This is the Glossier Birthday Balm Dot Com. The smell of this, you guys. The smell. It smells like a Funfetti cake, but in a REAL way. It is clear, but chock full of glitter. It is so so pretty and really hydrating. I love this stuff. It comes in a bunch of different colors/flavors, but I LOVE this one. Love the holo packaging, too.

Here are the swatches…they don’t really do them justice at all though, especially the shimmery ones.

From left to right – Dior, Winky Lux, NARS, Fenty, and Glossier.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Everyday Makeup | 10 Minutes and Natural

Happy Friday! Today is a beauty post, which are still my favorite types of posts to create! I am talking all about makeup today; sharing my every day routine!

I wear makeup every day, and this is what I do most days. It only takes 10 minutes, and makes me feel more put together, more awake, and just all-around better.

A little bit about my skin – I have normal to dry skin, no breakouts, and my skin is very fair and freckled. I do not use liquid foundation because it makes me feel like I have a mask on, and covering my freckles looks weird to me. I use a powder foundation that allows my freckles to show through while still evening out my skin tone.

THE GOODS.

Lets start off with face makeup.

I’ve already applied my sunscreen and moisturizer, so first I apply my Bare Minerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Powder Foundation in 04 Aspen. I use the Bare Minerals Precision Face Brush to apply this; it is a dense angled brush. I buff this all around in circular motions.

The next product I use is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light. I apply this underneath my eyes to conceal my dark circles and then tap it in with my finger to blend.

To add some color and dimension to my face, I use the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Milk Chocolate. I use the Real Techniques Blush Brush in circular motions all along the perimeter of my face and into my cheekbones.

For blush, I use the MAC Sheertone Blush in Springsheen, a peachy pink color with golden shimmer. I apply this with a Morphe M435 angled brush.

Let’s move onto the eyes!

Eyebrows are verrry important, so I use the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo In Dark Brown along with an angled brush to fill in my eyebrows. I kind of just mix the two colors together. This helps keep them looking put together, but still natural.

For shadow, I keep it super simple with this Too Faced Natural Eye Palette. I use a shimmery beige color on the lids, and a matte medium brown color in the crease. The brushes are both from Sigma, E25 for laying down the lid color, and E35 for blending.

For liner, I prefer a dark brown pencil, my favorite is Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Demolition; a matte brown color. I apply this to my upper lash line, and smudge it under my lower lash line. This gives definition to my eyes while still looking natural. Black liner tends to look harsh on me.

Lashes make a big difference, so I make sure to curl them, and also use a mascara that adds volume and length, like Benefit Roller Lash. I actually picked up this travel size the other day, because I was at the mall and had forgotten to apply mascara that morning. This is my favorite high-end mascara.

Can’t forget the lips! I used my all-time fave lipstick, MAC Syrup, which is a pinky-purple that has some shine to it. I then topped it off with my Dior Lip Maximizer in Pink, just to add a little bit more shine.

Here’s the before and after!

Can you see my dog Mollie on the chair? 🙂

What does your every day makeup routine look like?

EAT | 5 Ingredient S’mores Fudge

Hello! One of the most popular summertime desserts is S’mores. How can you go wrong with chocolate, grahams, and marshmallows? Today I am switching up the way S’mores are usually made and will show you my super quick and easy 5 ingredient S’MORES FUDGE.

Let’s get started.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 2 crumbled graham crackers

First off, grab an 8×8 baking pan and line it with foil and coconut oil spray.

Next, combine your chocolate chips and condensed milk into a saucepan on low heat and cook until melted. Make sure to keep stirring so it doesn’t burn.

Once melted, remove from heat and let cool.

After cooled, gently fold in your grahams and marshmallows.

Spread into your baking dish.

Refrigerate for one hour, and then cut into squares.

This fudge is so rich and delicious, and my girls and husband both love it! It is the epitome of summertime!

I hope you like it too!

August Reading Wrap Up

Do you guys love to read? I have loved to read ever since I was little. The first books I ever remember reading on my own were the Babysitter’s Club Little Sister books, which my 8 year old is now reading- we have a whole box of them; my mom saved them. I love reading so much, I even majored in English Literature in college. Getting lost in a book is one of my favorite things to do.

My favorite types of books to read are mysteries, psychological thrillers, and I also like reading historical fiction. I love books with a twist or a strong message at the end. I LIVE for a good twist.

Today I’ll be reviewing some really good books that I’ve finished recently. I have a library very close to me, so I prefer checking books out versus buying them- but sometimes they don’t have all of the current books that I want. I also love to keep track of books I have read and want to read on the app Goodreads. You can read reviews and leave reviews, and it’s a really good resource if you need help finding a book. You can also follow people and see what they’re reading.

I read at least 3 books a month, sometimes more. I enjoy reading more than TV or movies, so I usually read when I have free time at night after the girls go to bed.

Here are the books I’ve picked out to review today.

So, I just checked my app, and I’ve read 22 books so far this year. My favorite so far this year is this one. I read it in January but I still wanted to mention it.

This was the first book I had ever read by this author, and I loved it so much, I read the other two that she has written.

So, this book is about a young couple, Finn and Layla, and the book begins with them stopping at a rest stop late at night. Finn needs to use the restroom so Layla stays in the car. When he returns, she’s gone. She’s never seen again. A few years later, he is engaged to Layla’s sister, Ellen, but never loves her as much as he loved Layla. After they get engaged, weird things start happening, like a phone call from someone claiming they have seen Layla, and some long lost items that were Layla’s start turning up. Finn believes that Layla may still be alive and tries to find her.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and is full of twists. The ending was the biggest twist ever for me, and one that I didn’t see coming! It was a really suspenseful read.

Colleen Hoover is an author I really love. She has a lot of books, and most of them are love stories. They always seem to have some kind of twist or surprise at the end that is interesting.

This book is about a girl named Fallon, who is preparing to move across the country to begin a new life after being burned badly at her home in a fire. She is having lunch with her Dad when she randomly meets this guy, Ben, and they really hit it off. Since she is moving away, they agree to meet every year on November 9th, the day that they met. They live their separate lives, but always come back to each other on that day. Ben starts writing a novel about Fallon and her life, and when Fallon finally reads it after falling in love with him, she finds out a shocking surprise.

A huge twist at the end, one that kind of made me mad to be honest! You won’t be able to put this one down.

The last one to review is by Shari Lapena, and this style is very similar to B.A. Paris. This is also a very suspenseful mystery.

Anne and Marco seem to have the perfect marriage and life. They have a baby, Cora, who they leave in the house one night while they go to their next-door neighbors house for a dinner party. They check on the baby every so often throughout the night, but the baby is nowhere to be found when they return home for the night. The police point immediately to the parents but Anne claims to know nothing, and she suspects the neighbors.

This novel is full of deception and suspense, and of course a huge twist at the end!

Well, that’s it for my reading wrap up! Let me know if you like these kind of posts and if you can recommend a good book! 🙂

August Beauty Faves

Hello! I am so happy to be doing a beauty faves post today! Summer is almost over, but where I live in Texas we will have summer for another month! It currently says 96 degrees in my car right now as I type this in the parent pickup line. 🙂

Today I am going to be sharing my faves that I have been using nonstop in August. I have everything from hair care to makeup, so let’s get started!

First off, I want to talk about this body cream from Sol De Janeiro. This is a very popular cream called the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I’ll be honest, I only bought this for the smell. It smells amazing. It’s a warm vanilla scent that reminds me of a tropical beach vacation. It is a VERY strong smell, and the smell lingers for me until I wash it off the next day. I wouldn’t use this daily, just because the scent is so strong, but a trip to the pool, beach, or something like that-it’s perfect. It is extremely moisturizing, and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy at all. It is also supposed to firm and smooth the skin over time. I really like this. Just go smell it.

Next, is a perfume. I am not big into perfume, in fact, I only have ONE (gasp) and it’s Chanel Coco De Mademoiselle. I have worn it for years and it’s just been my go-to. I really love floral scents and not much of anything else. I like to just smell like flowers, so this Replica Flower Market is perfect. This smells exactly like when you stick your face into a bouquet of roses to smell them. Exactly. And who doesn’t want to smell like that?! I bought the travel size because I wasn’t going to shell out $126 for the full size when I didn’t even know if I was going to like it. But, I’m definitely going to when this runs out! I also like that it’s an actual spray instead of a rollerball.

I am all about drugstore shampoo and conditioner (to me, it’s the styling products that matter), and I love this Dove Creme Conditioner Concentrated Moisture. This is probably the 6th tube I have used up, and it’s really nice. It’s a thick conditioner that feels like a mask. It smoothes and makes my hair super soft, and Dove hair products always smell really good. I get this at Walmart for like 5 bucks.

I have a few makeup items, first off, the best bronzer of life, my Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soieil Matte Bronzer. I would be a ghost without this stuff. I’m on my third compact because I just won’t even try anything else. The milk chocolate color is perfect for my fair skin, it’s matte, not orange-y and it smells like CHOCOLATE. The best.

Next is this ADORABLE Winky Lux lippie. This is the Confetti Balm, and it came in a set with a Mini Disco Kitten Gloss in Hustle (which is my fave also) and a cute little kitten pouch. I LOVE Winky Lux. So, this lip balm is clear with glitter inside. It is so pretty and I love the sleek silver packaging. It looks clear, but once you apply it, it changes to a pink shade. It’s kind of like a tinted balm. It smells like vanilla and keeps my lips soft.

I mean, look at it.

Here are the bronzer and lip balm swatched.

My last fave is a nail color, and surprise, surprise, it’s Essie. The color is Go Ginza and it’s a very light lavender.

I’ve just been doing neutrals on my nails lately, and this lavender color is so light, that I consider it to be a neutral. It goes with everything, and just looks chic. It’s a great alternative to white or light pink.

So that’s all the faves for the month!

What beauty products have you been using this month?

Thanks for reading xx
