The RED Lip Edit

Red lips are always a way to dress up any look.  I’m usually not a fan of bold lip colors, but I do make the exception for a red lip every once in awhile.  It’s really hard to find the perfect red color, especially being fair skinned.  Some just look garish, some clash with my skin and make me look like a clown, but not these reds.  These are the good reds.

I have two matte liquid lipstick favorites, Stila Stay All Day in Beso, and Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Always Red.  Both have really nice staying power, but I do prefer Always Red, because it’s more comfortable on the lips, and these Sephora Lip Stains are BOMB.  They LAST.  As you can see, the shades here are almost identical!

Two lipsticks that are really nice are of course, NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Cruella, and MAC Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo.  Both are supposed to be like, universally flattering.  They are both pretty cool toned, and can be applied lightly or really packed on for super pigmented lips.  As you can see, Ruby Woo is a little bit brighter, while Cruella is more of a brick red color.

If I’m just wanting a sheer wash of red, (which I LOVE) Lipstick Queen’s Medieval is so gorg.  It’s so moisturizing and feels like a tinted balm.  It’s buildable so you can make it as sheer as you like.

Lastly, a lipliner that I always use with any red lip is this Revlon Colorstay Liner in Red.  It goes with every color and it really helps with feathering and lasting power.

    1. Yes! All of these are pretty cool toned reds, I feel like the warmer, orangey tones are the ones that don’t flatter fair skin! 🙂

  1. I have to agree that the Sephora Lip Stain in Always Red is amazing as well as the lasting power. I like the Besame Cosmetics Red Velvet 1946 lipstick. It’s a nice shade. 🙂
