Today we are talkin everything hair. Hair products are my favorite products to try out, but I find myself repurchasing the same things over and over. These products are the best of the best, because they work so great for my hair. Today I am going to talk about those products, but also give you some hair tips and tricks to help your hair be smooth, shiny, and stay nice for a few days after washing.
Let’s start off with shampoo.
These are my three favorite shampoos. They all make my hair feel squeaky clean and leave it shiny. The Lush Big Shampoo is a volumizing shampoo with sea salt in it that really adds volume and clarifies the hair. Another really nice clarifying one is the Bumble and Bumble Shampoo, which I use once a week to get rid of all of the styling product and dry shampoo buildup. This has a slight mint scent and feels so nice. Lastly, is the Suave Professional Moroccan Infusion Shine Shampoo. This one smells amazing and leaves my hair soo soft. Another is the Garnier Pure Clean Shampoo. It’s important to have a really good shampoo that leaves your hair feeling clean- and you don’t have to spend a lot to find one.
Next, you’re going to need a conditioner and some hair combing tools.
I use the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner every time I wash my hair. I also have a huge bottle with a pump in my girls’ bathroom for their hair. I love this stuff, it leaves my hair so soft without feeling like there is buildup.
After I get out of the shower, I comb it out. I like to use a Tangle Teezer, A Wet Brush, or just a regular wide tooth comb. The brushes are good because they really help to get tangles out without breaking or damaging the hair.
After I am done brushing, I always put some sort of leave in conditioner/ heat protectant in and comb that through.
It’s a Ten Miracle Leave in Product Plus Keratin is my favorite because it has ten different benefits for your hair. I use this on my girls when I blowdry their hair. It’s a Ten Miracle Blowdry Volumizer is good if I want to add a lot of volume to the hair, and also has the ten benefits. The Kenra Platinum Blow Dry Spray helps hair to dry faster and smells AMAZING. The Bumble and Bumble Repair Blow Dry is a creme that really smooths the hair- perfect to use before flat ironing. All of these products here protect the hair from heat, help to soften the hair, and help to smooth the hair. I think styling products and finishing cremes like these are more important than the actual conditioner, since you leave them on the hair, and that’s why I tend to like the higher end ones.
After applying a product, I don’t recommend blowdrying immediately unless you have to. I will usually put my hair up in a Turbie Twist for awhile, and then blowdry when it’s about 70-80% dry.
If I’m going to blowdry my hair, I’m going to make the most of it and try to style it as best as I can to avoid using a flat iron. Using a large round brush while drying gives a sleek look to the hair while slightly curling the ends. I also use a teasing brush to add volume around the crown.
Now, to make your style last.
I always sleep with my hair in one of these ties. They don’t leave a dent in the hair where you put them in, and they keep my hair from getting tangled and crazy while I sleep.
If you have oily hair, you may need to use a dry shampoo the day after a blowout. This Living Proof one is my fave. I recommend spraying this into the roots, leaving it for 5-10 minutes, and then brushing it through the hair. I can usually make it to day 3 or 4 without dry shampoo because I tend to have dry hair. The dry shampoo will absorb the oil and add volume to your hair if it turns limp.
Another tip I have is to use a shower cap in the shower when you don’t want to wash your hair. I spray in my dry shampoo, put on a shower cap, and let it set in my hair the whole time I’m in the shower. After I get out, I brush it out and it’s good as new!
